Callander Lakeside Medical Clinic

Home

Please be patient with us as we create this site to increase our availability to patients during the COVID-19 outbreak

WE ARE NOT A WALK-IN CLINIC

WE CANNOT PROVIDE EMERGENCY SERVICES

WE CANNOT SCREEN FOR COVID-19 OR SEE PATIENTS WITH A FEVER OVER 38.0 DEGREES C (100.5 F)

WE ARE CURRENTLY NOT CHARGING FOR MISSED AND REBOOKED APPOINTMENTS

The office is running as best we can, but things are changing daily as the situation evolves

Expect to be asked to wear a mask regardless of symptoms, and you are encouraged to bring your own and don it before entering, as the world has a limited supply and the clinic will run out soon.

Expect that your doctor might be wearing a mask and gloves. But see above.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) has allowed us to do phone, text and video followups and we are ramping up that capability now. But understand that some types of visits require physical exam, physical presence or procedures.

Understand that these new forms of remote "appointments" are typicaly only available during existing clinic hours.

TeleHealth remains available, but waits may be long. Restrict your use of this service to non-COVID related concerns

Hours

We are "open" Monday to Thursdays, 0830-1630.

Please be patient: everyone is overwhelmed

We are beginning to ramp up services for phone and video consults. If you are interested in video consult, please consider installing and testing Skype on your computer or mobile device

Renewals of medications

We are aware that over the short term, many will have need for renewals and we encourage you to take stock at home and renew early. We have no ability to track what you have or don't have at home.

SHARE THIS: Pharmacists can do many renewals for your medications for a month. Read this and show it to your friends and the staff at the pharmacy:

https://www.opatoday.com/tips-and-common-questions/tip-sheets/10-services-your-pharmacist-can-offer-you

https://www.newswire.ca/news-releases/community-pharmacists-ask-for-patients-understanding-on-30-day-supplies-of-medications-805112047.html

A pharmacist might decline to renew medications that are addictive. This includes many pain, mood and sleep medications. Their professional association has allowed some them some leeway, though. MDs generally cannot renew these medications over the phone. The government is trying to evolve ways to help you and we will work with you.

Attention: regarding email

  • the CPSO does not allow us to give medical advice via email

  • the turnaround on email messages is NOT same day. This is a new service which is only looked at intermittently

  • over the short term, prescription renewal requests for most things can be handled direct via the pharmacy: you don't need to ask us

  • in the modern world, there is no way to 100% ensure security on the internet. Our email and terminals are password protected appropriately. But if governments and banks can be hacked, so can we. DO NOT INCLUDE ANY INFO YOU CONSIDER PRIVATE OR CONFIDENTIAL IN ANY FORM OF CORRESPONDENCE TO OUR OFFICE

Examples of good use of the email system:

    • routine appointment request for chronic followup

    • routine rescheduling of appointments

    • transmission of monitoring info like home blood pressures and blood sugars, prior to appointments

Examples of inappropriate use of the email system:

    • requests for medical advice

    • urgent demands for an appointment. If you are worried about your health and can't reach us, email won't work

    • transmission of sensitive information

    • social conversations

These policies can and will be modified at any time. The world is changing quickly
