California United FC History
2016 Year
Jr Lomeli, retired from coaching the Fillmore High School Boys Program, in order to have the time to coach his 8 year daughter Karissa. He began with a small team of girls born in the year 2006 and 2007. He called the team California United FC. His vision was to develop the team to one day play competitively. The vision was to allow these girls the opportunity to develop at no cost. Many of the original team members are still playing for the club.
In September 2016, the first team under the name California United FC was formed. The team was composed of young girls ages 7-9 and was created by Coach Jose Luis Lomeli Jr. They competed in the Oxnard County Soccer League, for the first time under the name California United FC. The team placed second in its division, falling short of a championship to Oxnard Pal, a well-known Soccer club in the Ventura County area. The above picture is a picture of the original team.
In this same year, parents of the 2006 girls team formed a board, and became a non-profit organization under the name California United Futbol Club. The Club has a DBA under the Ventura Coast Women’s Soccer League.

The coaches got together and felt the community of Fillmore needed a soccer club to develop local talent. The name was decided mutually to keep the name as California United Futbol Club. This would allow players or teams from other cities to join the club. In the same year, a 2004 Born Girls team was formed by Nico Jaimes and also began to compete under the name California United FC.
