Our Story

Calibre Development has been serving the Grand Strand area since 1997. Founded by Dave Henn, Calibre provides custom home building services to make your dream home a reality. Our dedicated team is here to support your vision through quality construction and integrity in our actions.

Dave grew up with a passion for wood working, but for many years it was just a hobby he enjoyed. He graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Finance, and then obtained a graduate degree from LSU. Dave spent the first 15 years of his career in commercial banking, while continuing to develop a skill and passion for construction. In 1997 he decided it was time to take the plunge, believing, "If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life", and so Calibre Development was born. He's enjoyed a successful career in Custom Home building these past 25 years, having completed over 100 homes from Georgetown to Myrtle Beach, and made many friends along the way. He is married to his wife Betsy, and has four children. If he's not working on a project at the house, you can find him on the river fishing, or out in the deer woods.

Ned is Dave's oldest son and grew up around and on many of Calibre's constructions sites. He left Pawleys in 2010 to attend Wofford College on an Army scholarship, earning a degree in Biology. Ned spent the first 8 years of his career working in two distinct career fields, the military and college ministry. He commissioned in 2014 as an Engineer Officer and lead teams in horizontal construction and route clearance. While a member of the Army Reserves, Ned worked in college ministry at both Wofford College, and Clemson University, with a desire to help students development spiritually while in college through mentorship and learning to read the Bible. He moved back to Pawleys Island in the Spring of 2022 and is excited to work alongside his dad, and to bring an efficient and interpersonal process to custom home building. Ned is married to his wife Keri, and they have four children. On Saturday's you're likely to find Ned at the beach or enjoying outdoor recreation with his family and friends.

Calibre has developed strong working relationships with many of coastal Carolina's leading architectural firms. We've been featured in numerous magazines including Coastal Living, South Carolina Homes and Garden, and Builder Architect. We've also been the contractor in a renovation show on HGTV!

We desire to draw upon these relationships while utilizing our broad professional backgrounds to create the best and most memorable custom home building experience!
