History
This platform was established to provide Calgarians with a dedicated space for engaging in crucial discussions about climate and environmental issues. In the summer of 2023, Our Founder led a Climate Action program and had the opportunity to network with individuals dedicated to environmental stewardship.
Through this experience, I gleaned two key insights:
Calgarians are eager to enhance their understanding of environmental sustainability and are increasingly concerned about the impacts of climate change, both locally and globally.
Environmentally conscious individuals within Calgary often find themselves isolated and dispersed across the city, lacking accessible spaces to engage in meaningful dialogue and action. Furthermore, organizations focused on environmental and climate initiatives are limited in both number and scope. As a result, fostering community engagement and collective action poses significant challenges due to this fragmentation.

Get to know our Founder
Hi, I'm Aaron Eugenio
I am the founder of the Calgary Climate Coalition, a grassroots dedicated to fostering meaningful dialogue and action around climate and environmental issues in Calgary. With an Honours Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies and a Graduate Diploma in International Development focused on sustainable development, I have dedicated my career to advocating for environmental sustainability and community engagement.
My passion for environmental sustainability was deeply influenced by my travels and experiences living in various countries, where I witnessed firsthand the environmental impacts of our global consumption habits and the innovative solutions that different communities have developed to lower their ecological footprints. This understanding fuelled my desire to make a difference within my own community.
Throughout my career, I have run multiple projects and programs focused on environmental sustainability. My previous roles include coordinating a food rescue organization, managing a hydroponic farm facility, and directing a climate action program. These experiences have equipped me with key skills in community engagement, environmental education, and project coordination.
The Calgary Climate Coalition is designed to educate Calgarians about critical environmental issues and to inspire collective action toward innovative solutions and sustainable behaviours. I envision a community where residents actively engage in discussions about their environmental impacts, fostering a culture of sustainability that leads to a better Calgary for future generations.
Currently, we are focusing on building our community through small, enjoyable initiatives, such as movie screenings that provide a low-commitment way to introduce residents to environmental topics and connect them with like-minded individuals.
On a personal level, I am passionate about microgardening, which allows me to grow super-local food right from my patio, demonstrating how sustainable practices can be integrated into daily life.
