In Kolkata, indie bands have a few select and notable venues where they perform. These venues attract audiences ranging from as low as 50 to as high as 2,500. Most metal concerts are held in enclosed spaces, in contrast to the open-air venues commonly seen elsewhere. This preference is largely due to the niche audience for metal and the neighboring bhodrolok culture’s aversion to loud music. Metal is still stigmatized and stereotyped as loud, chaotic, and "devilish noise" rather than a legitimate musical genre, which also limits sponsorship opportunities for metal concerts.

The most notable venues for recurring metal concerts include Mohit Moitro Mancha in Paikpara and Top Cat CCU near Science City. Some metal bands also get the opportunity to perform at Jadavpur University Open Air Theatre during Sanskriti and other prominent college festivals. College fests play a significant role in promoting bands through Band Battles and generally offer a more welcoming atmosphere than other venues in the city. Notable metal bands like Umang and Xavotsav rose to prominence through these college festivals. Additionally, well-known metal concerts in Kolkata include Summer Slam, Abomination, and Kolkata Death Fest.

Rock concerts, however, enjoy greater popularity across the city. Hard Rock Cafe, Park Street, is a prime destination for prominent rock bands, while jazz-rock bands often perform at Someplace Else, also on Park Street. For example, Funkiez Junkiez is a regular act there, performing almost every Saturday.

For practice sessions, bands frequently turn to 5 Strings Studio, an affordable jam pad for young musicians. It is a well-equipped, soundproof space that serves as a hub for aspiring artists, offering a reliable environment to refine their sound.
