With the purchase of the Sustainability Kit you can:

Use reusable Foundation water bottles
On the property you can partake in the following activities in order to minimize your impact:

Energy-generating bicycles
These bicycles, connected to an electrical generation system, would allow visitors to transform their physical energy into electrical energy.
At the interactive kiosk, you can ‘offset’ part of this footprint by pedalling.
An information panel will show in real time how many watts are being generated and how many kg of CO₂ are being offset.
The Foundation will be able to use this energy, for example, to power part of the garden lighting or charge devices in the communal spaces.

Reduce soil compaction through energy-generating bridges.
Small bridges in areas where there is greater soil compaction due to trampling by visitors like you to the Casa de Mateus Foundation.
As well as reducing soil compaction, these bridges are made up of energy-generating plates.

The European Union can help you with different tips that you can do that can help you limit the impact of your habits:
Food
Consume local and seasonal products;
Limit meat consumption, especially beef;
Select fish from sustainable fishing;
Bring reusable shopping bags and avoid products with excessive plastic packaging;
Make sure to buy only what you need, to avoid waste.
Clothing
Try swapping, borrowing, renting or buying second-hand;
Buy responsibly-made clothes, e.g. made from recycled material or with an eco-label
Transport
Cycle or use public transport;
Be smart about when and how you drive.
Energy and waste
Take short showers;
Turn off the water while you brush your teeth or clean the dishes;
Unplug your electronic equipment and don’t leave your phone on charge when the battery is already full.
