Title:
Building a Digital Earth for Studying Climate Change
Goal:
Climate change is becoming part of everyday life, as evidenced by a number of factors - from the increasing frequency of extreme weather events to dangerously declining biodiversity. At the same time, an ever-increasing body of Earth data from many different sources promises the most accurate and detailed estimation of a wide range of environmental variables through the creation of a "Digital Earth". The analysis of a huge volume of scientific data and measurements creates new challenges, which require close interdisciplinary collaborations to address them. The purpose of the workshop is to present part of the rich research activity carried out in the academic institutions of Crete on the recording and analysis of data and measurements of the Earth, as well as the prospects in addressing and reducing the effects of climate change.
