Calaura ("we," "our," or "the app") is a calorie tracking application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
Account and profile data: age, gender, weight, height, activity level, and dietary goals you provide during onboarding to calculate calorie and macro targets.
Food entries: food descriptions you type or submit to log meals.
Chat messages: text you send through the Ask AI feature.
Subscription and purchase data: managed by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment information.
Device and usage data: basic analytics such as app version, device type, and interaction events to improve the app experience.
How We Use Your Information
To calculate and display personalized calorie and macro targets.
To process food entries and return nutritional estimates via third-party large language model (LLM) providers.
To provide AI-powered diet and nutrition responses through the Ask AI feature.

Third-Party Services
We send food descriptions and Ask AI messages to third-party LLM providers to generate calorie estimates and nutrition responses. These messages are sent without your name or account identifiers. We recommend not including personally identifiable information in your food entries or chat messages.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as screen views, session duration, and interaction events. This data is aggregated and does not personally identify you. Google's privacy policy applies to data collected through their services.
Data Storage and Security
Your food log and profile data are stored locally on your device using Core Data. We use reasonable security measures to protect any data transmitted to our servers or third-party services.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device and under your control. Deleting the app removes your locally stored data. Any data sent to third-party LLM providers is subject to their respective retention policies.
Children's Privacy
Calaura is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Health Disclaimer
Calaura provides AI-generated calorie and nutritional estimates for informational purposes only. These estimates may not be accurate. The app is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional before making dietary decisions.
Your Rights
