I am an Advisor of Impact Economics at KIT Royal Tropical Institute in the Sustainable Economic Development and Gender Division. My research focuses on experimental and quasi-experimental impact evaluations of agricultural development and food security interventions in Africa. I am currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
I completed my PhD at Michigan State University (USA) in the Department of Agricultural, Food, and Resource Economics (AFRE) in May 2024. My research focused on the intersection of international development, food and agriculture, and behavioral economics. I used a mix of methods in my research including quasi-experimental, experimental, and lab-in-the-field experiments.
Prior to beginning my doctorate, I worked as a research analyst for the HarvestPlus Program at the International Food Policy Research Institute based in Washington, DC, USA. Throughout my almost five year tenure at IFPRI, I carried out economic research relating to biofortification in the areas of farmer adoption, consumer demand, and priority setting. I utilized both secondary data as well as collected primary data to carry-out my analyses. In addition to my work experience at IFPRI, I worked at Opportunity International, an international microfinance nonprofit organization, as a research associate based in Chicago, IL, USA. I have conducted field research in Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, and the United States. I have collaborated on research work being carried out in Myanmar, Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Nigeria, Ghana, and Colombia.
I earned my M.S. in Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University in 2013. I obtained a B.S. in Plant Biology and a B.S. in Agricultural Business Management from North Carolina State University in 2011.
