How to Install your new washing machine – step-by-step

Here’s a step-by-step guide to unpacking and installing your new Beko washing machine for the first time.

Please note, washing machines can be heavy, be careful when lifting and moving. We strongly recommend you have someone assist you when lifting, tilting and moving your washing machine.

Unpacking your new Beko washing machine

Your new Beko washing machine will arrive wrapped in plastic and protected with styrofoam. Follow these simple steps to remove all packaging so that your new washing machine can be installed:

Locate the plastic ribbon around the washing machine and pull to easily remove the protective wrapping.

Remove the pieces of styrofoam from the top and sides of the washing machine.

Locate the ribbon at the bottom of the washing machine, this will usually be attached to a sticker.

Carefully tilt the washing machine back and pull the ribbon to release the piece of styrofoam from underneath the washing machine then carefully replace the washing machine to its standing position.

Remove the transit bolts from your new Beko washing machine

When your new Beko washing machine is delivered it will have up to five transit bolts attached to the back of the machine which keep it secure while it is in transit. These must be removed before you install your new washing machine. The bolts are simple to remove and replace with the plastic caps provided. Just follow these steps:

Using an appropriate tool, loosen the bolt until you can remove the bolt and the plastic covering from the washing machine.

We suggest you store the transit bolts you remove in a safe place along with your product manual in case your washing machine needs to be transported again in the future.

Locate the plastic caps which will have been delivered with your washing machine

Insert each of the plastic caps into the holes left by the removed transit bolts.

How to level your washing machine

Your Beko washing machine needs to be completely level and must be on appropriate flooring, never carpet. If your washing machine is unlevel, follow these simple steps to adjusting the feet:

Carefully tilt your washing machine back to reveal the adjustable feet. Please note washing machines are heavy, be careful when lifting and moving. We strongly recommend you have someone assist you when lifting, tilting and moving your washing machine.

Adjust the feet by hand. (Anti-clockwise to reduce height, clockwise to increase height)

Check that the washing machine is now level again with a spirit level or by gently rocking it to see if it still moves.

When the feet are at the correct position, and your washing machine is stable, tighten the lock nuts above each of the feet by hand. (Anti-clockwise)

Check your water pressure

It’s a good idea to check the water pressure in your home is suitable for your new Beko washing machine before you install it. Low water pressure can lead to your washing machine not working properly. Follow these simple steps to check the flow of water:

Turn on the cold tap situated nearest to where your new Beko washing machine will be installed.

Note how thick the stream of water is. If the flow is not strong enough, the stream will be thinner than your forefinger. As a guide a flow rate of at least one litre in seven seconds is required.

If the flow rate is less, you need a plumber to check your water line.

Connect the mains water inlet hose

You will need to connect the mains water inlet hose supplied with your new Beko washing machine to both the water supply and your washing machine. To connect the water hose, follow these steps:

You will notice the mains water inlet hose has a right-angled connector at one end and a straight connector at the other end. The right-angled connector should be attached to the water inlet valve at the back of the washing machine.

Check that both connectors have a rubber seal in place, these prevent the water hose from leaking.

To attach the water hose to the washing machine, simply tighten the connector to the water inlet valve by hand in a clockwise direction.

The straight connector should be connected to the cold water tap, again you only need to tighten by hand.

Once connected turn on the water and check for leaks.

Connecting your new washing machine to the mains power

Follow these simple steps to connect your washing machine to the mains power:

Do not plug your washing machine into an extension socket, only ever plug your washing machine into a mains wall socket.

Test that the power socket is working by plugging in something you know is working, a light for example.

Once you have ensured the socket is operational you can plug your washing machine in.

If your washing machine does not turn on when connected to the power there may be an electrical fault.

Detergent • Use either liquid or granular laundry detergent. For best results, be sure detergent is added to the washer BEFORE the load and be sure the wash water is above 60° F (16° C).

• Use the correct amount of detergent for the load size, soil level and water conditions. Use more detergent if you have hard water and very soiled loads. If you have soft water or a lightly soiled load, use less detergent. (See manufacturer’s instructions.)

• Wipe up any detergent spills on the washer. Loading

• For best results add the detergent to the washtub before adding the load.

• Put dry, unfolded clothes loosely in the tub, up to the top row of holes for a maximum load.

• Do not wrap large items like sheets around the agitator.

• Mix large and small items for best circulation. Wash bulky items like blankets separately.

• When laundering wrinkle-free items or items of delicate construction, washable woolens or loosely knit items, never use less than the Medium water level setting. This will minimize shrinkage, wrinkling and pulling of seams.

• Close lid carefully to avoid slamming. Additional Tips

• During the spin, it is possible for the load to become unevenly distributed in the tub. If this happens, push in the control dial, open the lid, redistribute the load, close the lid and restart the washer. The spin will resume at the point it was interrupted.

• The washer will pause briefly throughout each cycle. These pauses are normal. • This washer is designed so that it will not agitate or spin when the lid is open. It will, however, fill with the lid open so water is available for pretreating stains or diluting fabric softener.

• If you open the lid during a spin cycle, the washer will stop. When the lid is closed and the washer is restarted, the washer will continue the cycle at the point it was interrupted
