Urban Crittering taps into your dog’s natural hunting instincts in a safe and fun way. Searching is done “on the ground” meaning there is no climbing or jumping involved. In this workshop, Michelle will introduce the game, explain how the Happy Ratters organization works, and guide teams through the basics so dogs can learn to search for and indicate the hidden rats.
The live rats that are safely housed in secure, ventilated tubes hidden throughout a course mimicking an urban alley setting but with nice clean “trash”: new bags filled with shredded paper, clean boxes, and sanitized props.
No prior experience or training is required — it’s a fantastic enrichment activity for dogs of all breeds and ages.

The Happy Ratter’s Philosophy
The goal is for the dog and owner to have a fun, positive and successful experience while enhancing the bond between dog and owner, and placing a high priority on safety!
* Fun, trusting environment for dogs and their handlers to find vermin(rats) in “urban” settings.
* A titling program that allows all dogs to compete toward different level titles.
* A program that encourages camaraderie and support between competitors.
