Suggested Process:

• Get New Title (in your name) Facebook Website
  • When I did this they did not offer CA titles now looks like they might?
• Do NOT go to DMV: Use registration service that processes DMV paperwork for you I used: Conar Auto Registration Services you will not need to bring you car to them
• You will need to do a VIN verification only CHP will do this. I was worried but it was simple. I brought the form that Conar gave me CHP officer filled out the form and gave me a replacement government VIN riveted into door.
• Few days later get title and registration.

If you have the Auto for longer than a year you do not pay CA sales tax.
