In the July--November 2026 semester, we meet for the Algebra Seminar in KCB 505 from 11:00 am - 12:30 PM every Thursday starting August 6.
We will mainly be having a learning seminar this semester, though we may have some standalone invited talks as well, which will be announced below in due course. Interested members from nearby institutes like CMI, IMSc, etc. are welcome to attend.

Learning seminar on positive characteristic methods (by Vaibhav):
The aim of this learning seminar is to study the theory of Frobenius singularities and see how positive characteristic methods are useful in algebra more broadly. The seminar will be strongly example-driven with several open questions discussed towards the end of the lecture series. The rough outline is as follows:
1- Kunz's theorem
2- Classes of F-singularities and implications
3- Relationship between these classes
4-F-purity and F-regularity in the complete intersection case: Examples
5- F-purity and F-regularity beyond the complete intersection case: Examples and some new techniques
6- Applications to blowup algebras
7- Numerical measures: The F-pure threshold and the a-invariant
Study material:
We will not be following any particular reference. However, for the basics of F-singularities, material from the following references wil be taken:
