Village Quiz raises £940 for Christian Aid

Our first event of 2023, the popular Village Quiz, attracted 13 teams of 6 contestants to the Services Club on Friday 3rd February. The winning team, from Kings Langley Good Neighbours, swept into the lead at the final round. A light supper was served during the interval and a raffle contributed towards the excellent result.  Raffle prizes included dinner for two at the prestigious Grove Hotel

Christmas Appeal

Two local schools joined us in The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead and sang carols on Friday 16th December.

A class from Nash Mills C of E Primary School sang in the morning and children from the Divine Saviour RC Primary School sang in the afternoon. The public were clearly thrilled and donated £420 to Christian Aid.

Christmas Tree Festival

Our tree at All Saints' Church's Christmas Tree Festival. Lyndsay Jepsen decorated the tree, which featured gift boxes and recipes from Malawi. The festival ran from 4pm on Friday 9th December to 4pm on Sunday 11th December .

Carols in the Village  Garden : Sat 17 Dec 4.30pm

Although  not a  Christian Aid event, Churches Together in Kings Langley gave us permission to hold a retiring collection for our Christmas appeal.  So much of the world is in deep crisis right now but only certain areas attract the attention of the media. Charities like Christian Aid are committed to providing help wherever it is needed.

Fundraising Meal at Abbots Tandoori raises £800

This popular event was quickly sold out, the restaurant was full and 60 supporters enjoyed an excellent curry and an evening of laughter and fellowship not experienced  by many since pre-Covid days.

We were particularly pleased that our friends in Abbots Langley worked with us to make this event a success.

Christian Aid Week  '22

This year Christian Aid Week focused on Zimbabwe where people like Jessica and her family are fighting hunger, made worse by the war in Ukraine driving up food prices around the globe.  We are grateful to the people of Kings Langley for the total of £4,612 raised, mainly through the House to House collections.
