We live in such a bustling, on-the-go society where we often don't get the chance to take a pause and breathe. For introverts, we can get overwhelmed or overstimulated by their surroundings faster than ambiverts and extroverts do. On the other hand, at some point in everybody's lives, anybody can get overwhelmed and should have a space to recharge.
We surveyed 54 people from the ages of 14-54 and found that 46.3% of people identified as an Introvert, 37% as an Ambivert, 14.8% as an Extrovert, and 1.9% as Other.
After a long day of interactions, some of the responses of how people liked to recharge include:
33.3% of people surveyed mentioned watching TV or video content (Netflix, YouTube, TikTok, etc.)
24.1% of people surveyed mentioned being alone/hiding from the world
22.2% of people surveyed mentioned taking a nap/sleeping
20.4% of people surveyed mentioned playing video games (either alone or with someone online)
A lot of the times when we are out and about, we don't have access to our recharge space or have a space to recharge. Out of the 54 people that we surveyed, 40.7% said that their recharge space is not accessible to them at any point in the day.
Not having an accessible recharge space can be a problem because oftentimes, when we are feeling overwhelmed, easy access to calm down can be vital. As seen in the graph below, all responses report at least some overstimulation from the environment.
