Cafe Curations
Bringing Fine Art to the community, one coffee house at a time.
Bringing Fine Art to the community, one coffee house at a time.
Cafe Curations was founded by Louisa Pichelman, an artist and curator from the Midwest, with the vision of making art more accessible to a broader range of communities. While pursuing her BFA in Fine Art, along with a minor in art history, Pichelman noticed a stark divide between her artistic practice and her day job as a barista. Many residents in smaller towns near larger cities had little exposure to galleries or art museums, making fine art a rarity in their lives and homes.
To bridge this gap, Pichelman decided to bring the art gallery experience directly to local coffee shops. These pop-up events allow community members to discover and purchase original artwork, while giving emerging artists a platform to showcase their talent. The cafes remain open during the exhibitions, benefiting from increased foot traffic and sales, creating a mutually supportive relationship between small businesses and artists.
Cafe Curations not only enriches communities unfamiliar with fine art but also provides artists with a unique opportunity to display and sell their work in a welcoming, gallery-like atmosphere. It's a win-win for everyone involved.
