The decorated crown molding, where it meets at the ceiling and walls reminds me of intricate relationships and connections I’ve made during my lifetimes. The connection is like a karmic contract, someone, somewhere, or something you’ve met, interacted with, and reacted to. We are building up and tearing down karma like an old castle in ruin. I think these structures, castles, ornaments, and else, are reincarnations of us. They can see, remember, and breathe. I focus on the metamorphosizing and entanglement of the body and its relationship to architecture and history through handmade paper and alcohol marker drawings. I indulge in the sexual, the animalistic, the decorative, and the cyclical burden of karma. It is a reclamation of my own queerness and identity that I feel I cannot portray any other way.
