Artist Statement: My spiked vessels began as a way to depict the tactile hallucinations that I experience as a symptom of my Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I wanted to raise awareness about the severity of OCD by repulsing and scaring the viewer away from ordinary objects, which is similar to what my brain does everyday. Over the years, these spikes have evolved to represent other forms of pain and angst, and now serve as a signature visual motif within my art practice; encouraging viewers to think about their own relationships with touch, discomfort, and repetition.
