Dr. Chandranath Adak is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Patna, and is also a Visiting Fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. Prior to this, he was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Indian Institute of Information Technology Lucknow (IIITL). Before that, he was an Assistant Professor at the Centre for Data Science, JIS Institute of Advanced Studies and Research, Kolkata, India. His research journey includes roles at various institutes such as CIBCI (Computational Intelligence & Brain-Computer Interface) Centre, UTS, Australia; IIIS, School of ICT, Griffith University, Gold Coast, Australia; DINFO, University of Florence, Italy; and the CVPR Unit, Indian Statistical Institute, India.
He obtained his Ph.D. in Analytics from UTS in May-2019 by conducting research under the principal supervision of Prof. Michael Blumenstein, with co-supervisions from Prof. Bidyut B. Chaudhuri and Prof. C. T. Lin. Formerly, he completed his M.Tech. (2014) and B.Tech. (2012), both in Computer Science and Engineering, from the University of Kalyani, India, and West Bengal University of Technology, India, respectively.
He won international research competitions held in Australia, USA, and Sweden. He was the recipient of the Start-up Research Grant, SERB, India (2022), Dr. Kalam Doctoral Scholarship, UTS, Australia (2018), and IEEE CIS Graduate Student Research Grants, USA (2017). He is a senior member of IEEE and a member of ACM.
His current research interests include Machine/ Deep/ Reinforcement Learning, Computer Vision, Large Language/ Vision Model (LLM/ LVM), Computer Forensics & Biometrics, Document Image/ Text/ Handwriting/ Language Processing, Data Analytics & Visualization, and various applications of Artificial Intelligence.
