About

Brief of History...

  • 1972 - 1981 Unit ETO
  • 1981 - 1991 Laboratory ETO
  • 1991 - 2001 Laboratory of Computer Methods
  • 2001 - ... Division of Computer Aided Design

Division of Computer Aided Design was created on the foundations of ETO Unit, formed in 1972. Laboratory of numerical calculations was preparing computations on data storage device such as punched card and tape, which were computed in Computer Center of Poznan University of Technology on computer ODRA, later MERA.

In the 80's ISE formed own numerical laboratory with computing maschine MERA 400. With the use of this equipment research and teaching were held, especially for students of Structural Engineering. Thanks to this the first master and doctoral theses dissertations was basing on numerical calculations.

In that time, due to lack of developed numerical environments, students were building their own applications to solve engineering problems. Numerical algorithms prepared in small programs were written usually in Fortran or Pascal.

In mid 80's rapid development of PC's had important influence on division and way of using software, which was created before. In 1991 Laboratory of Computer Methods was formed, which was later transformed into DCAD.

Heads of Division of Computer Aided Design:

  • Tomasz ŁODYGOWSKI (2001 - 2016)
  • Wojciech SUMELKA (2016 - present)
