Join us for a deep forest experience in the heart of the Western Ghats, where the rhythm of the wild replaces the noise of everyday life.

This intimate road trip from Coimbatore is designed for just six people, leading into the core zone of the Periyar Tiger Reserve — a space few get to truly experience, with only one group allowed each week by the Forest Department.

Over two nights of tented stay inside the forest, the journey unfolds through monsoon trails, bamboo rides, and long, silent treks in search of wildlife. It’s a raw and immersive experience, shaped by rain, patience, and presence — best suited for those who seek nature in its truest form, where stillness often reveals more than movement.

📋ITINERARY

⛰️ Day-0 (Friday, 24 July)

Journey to Thekkady

We begin our journey from Coimbatore at 5:00 PM, with a dinner stop along the way.
By around 10:00 PM, we arrive in Thekkady and check in to our stay, set just outside the forest area for the night.

⛰️ Day-1 (Saturday, 25 July)

Into the Wild Camp

Check out and report to the forest office by 8:30 AM.
After a short safety briefing by the forest department, the trek begins—accompanied by trained forest guides and an armed guard.
The trail begins with a gentle 4 km forest walk, followed by a bamboo boat ride across the reservoir to reach the campsite. Along the way, keep an eye out for birdlife and occasional wildlife movement within the forest.
The campsite is secured with a protective trench, creating a safe buffer between the camp and the surrounding wilderness.
Accommodation is arranged in basic twin-sharing tents, with access to permanent washroom facilities and a common dining area. As the campsite lies within the core zone of the tiger reserve, campfires are not permitted.
After lunch, venture deeper into the forest for a better chance at spotting wildlife. By evening, return to the campsite for dinner and a restful night.

⛰️ Day-2 (Sunday, 26 July)

Tracking Wildlife in Periyar

The day is dedicated to trekking deeper into the forest in search of wildlife, covering roughly 12 km through varied terrain.
The Periyar Tiger Reserve is home to a rich range of species—elephants, wild gaurs (Indian bison), sloth bears, sambar deer, leopards, lion-tailed macaques, wild dogs, Nilgiri martens, hornbills, and more.
It is also known to shelter around 30 tigers (as per the 2022 census). While the chances of a sighting are present, wildlife remains unpredictable, and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
By the end of the day, we make our way back to the campsite, carrying the quiet thrill of the forest with us.

⛰️ Day-3 (Monday, 27 July)

Leaving the Wild Behind

After breakfast, we bid goodbye to the forest and begin our trek back towards the world beyond.
By noon, we reach the forest office and continue our journey towards Coimbatore.
If time permits, you can opt for a scenic boat ride on the Periyar Lake, taking in one last glimpse of the forest from the water.
By around 10:00 PM, we arrive in Coimbatore, carrying with us memories of a truly wild and unforgettable experience.

❌ Exclusions:

- Meals which not mentioned in inclusions.
- Any tips to forest guides/drivers.
- Any personal expenses.
- Boating at Periyar Lake (Approx. ₹260)
- Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control.

IMPORTANT NOTE

- Wildlife sightings are subject to nature and cannot be guaranteed, as animals roam freely in their natural habitat.
- Any drastic increase in fuel prices due to war / economic instability may increase the transport cost. The additional transport expenses arising due to such instances will be collected as surcharge from the participants. This will be applicable only if fuel prices exceed ₹106 per litre for petrol and ₹98 per litre for diesel in Coimbatore.

📝GENERAL INFO

➡️ Basics:

- Total number of slots: 6
- Age group: 18 to 40
- Gender ratio: To encourage female travellers, we will ensure that there is a min of 40% female participants.
- Accommodation will be in two sharing rooms/tents, separate for boys and girls.
- The trek is conducted by the forest department, and you will have to abide by the forest department rules.
- Resort lovers please reconsider. This trip is only for those who wish to be close with nature.
- No customized food option.
- Network connectivity is minimal to nil during the trek.
- Strictly no alcohol or smoking at any time during the trip.
- Participants will need to carry a small bag during the trek to carry the packed food and other essentials.
- The Organizers hold the right to deal with any kind of misbehavior. The concerned participant can be sent home without any refund.
- Please note that there could be small changes in the itinerary due to local restrictions, and suitable alternative plans will made in such cases.

➡️ Forest Guidelines:

Dress in colours that blend with the natural environment (avoid bright colours and whites).
Obey the instructions of staff and guides.
Take pictures, but without disturbing wildlife. Keep a reasonable distance from wild animals, and do not provoke them.
Do not Litter. Carry all litter from the trek and dispose at marked sites at forest centers.
Do not talk loudly or play music.
Do not approach animals closer than 15 m or disturb them while they are resting.
Do not take away flora and fauna in the form of cuttings, seeds or roots.
Do not feed wild animals.
Do not light fires, or smoke inside protected areas. Accidental forest fires cause irreparable damage.
Carrying of guns, firearms, inflammable materials are strictly prohibited, as per the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and is punishable by law.

Mandatory - Any Govt. issued ID card (preferably Aadhar)
Trekking Shoes
Rain Jacket (mandatory, unless you want to enjoy the monsoons)
Umbrella (helpful when you walk around the campsite)
Cap and sunscreen to protect yourself from sun.
Any energy snack and reusable water bottle (no plastic bottles).
Carry a backpack to hold all your essentials. Pack light, as you’ll need to carry your belongings on Days 1 and 3.
A small bag during the trek to carry snacks and other essentials.
Mosquito repellent.
Sanitizer spray (it will help to remove leeches easily).
Toiletries.
Note: A detailed things to carry list will be shared 2 weeks before the trip.

Trek Difficulty: Medium for regular trekkers and Difficult for first timers.
Trek Distance: 22 km to be covered in 8 hours (complete trek distance).

➡️ Selection criteria:

- Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:
- New participants:
  - Solo participants will get first preference.
  - Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.
  - Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.
- Repeating participants:
  - Preference will be given if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories
  - Or if you have referred us to someone.

Invitation and Selection Process: Once registered, shortlisted participants will receive an official invitation to join the trip along with details for making the advance payment.

Advance Payment: Shortlisted participants will receive advance payment instructions. Your slot for the trip will be confirmed only upon successful payment of the advance.

The selection process is solely at the discretion of the Coimbatore Adventure Club. If all slots are filled, we will notify you and place you on a waitlist.

➡️ Payment process:

Confirm your spot with an initial payment of ₹10,000 and it is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Option to pay advance amount through credit cards / wallets are also possible. Do request us at the time of payment.
Balance payment to be settled 30 days before the trip. Otherwise the balance payment has to be brought as cash during the trip.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.

➡️ Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, in case you are not joining the trip. In case a participant cancels at the last moment (within 48 hours of trip starting time), they will be requested to settle at least 75% of the total trip cost.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, floods, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control—train/bus cancellation charges of ₹1,000 will be non-refundable. The remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.

Important Notice:

Coimbatore Adventure Club reserves the right to remove any participant from the trip at any time if they engage in any illicit or inappropriate behavior. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all travelers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
In case of misbehavior, the concerned participant can be sent home without any refund.
