Trek to Kodachadri in Shimoga (28-29 June 2025)

How about a trip to a remote mountain in the Western ghats? A trip that has all the right ingredients for a perfect mountain adventure.

Roaring waterfalls, trek through a canopy of dense forests and lush green meadows, staying for the night in a quaint and charming cottage admist an exotic plantation & streams, combined with cozy weather and the purest of air - to rejuvenate you and render a sense of accomplishment which would make you shout out "Phew, whatayy weekend"!

What's more? Ever sat inside a washing machine? Well that's how the jeep ride is going to be when you return from the Kodachadri hills after the trek.

Yes, this trek will take you to some of those splendid and beautiful trails of whose breathtaking sights will remain with you for the longest time.

📖ITINERARY:

🚌 Day-0 (Fri, 27-Jun)

Coimbatore Participants:
- - 09:30pm > Coimbatore Railway station to Mangalore by train.
Chennai Participants:
- - 01:15pm > Chennai Central to Mangalore by train.
Bangalore Participants:
- - 09:00pm > Bangalore to Shimoga by bus.

🚌 Day-1 (Sat, 28-Jun)

Coimbatore & Chennai Participants:
- - 06:00am > Reach Mangalore Central Railway station.
  - 10:00am > After a 3 hour drive from railway station, we will reach our homestay in Shimoga.
Bangalore Participants:
- - 06:00am > Reach homestay in Shimoga and rest.

This homestay, Simha Farms, is nestled within a coffee estate near the Sharavathi backwaters. It's a premium, secluded property that, like all CAC trip accommodations, offers a unique and delightful experience. You will love staying here.
After an authentic Malad lunch, we will head to the nearby Nagara Fort.
Evening, we will visit the bank of Sharavathi backwaters, which is at a walkable distance from the homestay.
There's so much to see inside the homestay estate too.
Gather around the dining area for a meal, and then we can play some games afterward.

🚌 Day-2 (Sun, 29-Jun)

07:00am > The day starts early with an amazing Malnad breakfast and we proceed for the trek.
A little bit of off-roading on jeeps to reach the forest entry point for the trek.
As we enter the jungle, we will be greeted by the Hindlumane waterfalls. The trek to the falls is a precursor to the main adventure, offering a glimpse of the dense forests and beautiful streams.
Continue trekking through dense forests, lush meadows, and steep inclines.
12:30pm > Have packed lunch at the meadows, half way to the peak.
02:30pm > Reach peak and start descending up to a place where the jeeps could pick us up.
04:00pm > Return back to the homestay (Return will be a 1.30 hrs offroad jeep ride)
Returning from the Kodachadri hill is going to be another thrilling off-roading ride. You will never forget.
Freshenup, and we depart from Simha farms to Mangalore.
On the way back, we will stop-by Udupi for Dinner at a place for seafood lovers. Surely vegetarians will dine in at a veg restaurant.
11:45pm > Take trains back to Coimbatore / Chennai from Mangalore railway station (09:00pm from the homestay by bus for Bangalore participants).

07:30 am > Arrive at Coimbatore Railway Station
04:00 pm > Arrive at Chennai Central railway station
07:00 am > Arrive in Bangalore

Note: 3AC Sleeper will cost ₹1000 extra over the Non-AC fare.

Female: ₹7400

Note: 3AC Sleeper will cost ₹1700 extra over the Non-AC fare.

Bangalore participants: Non AC Seater Bus

Male: ₹6500

Female: ₹6900

Inclusions:

💠 Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay on account of train cancellation, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control.

Basics:

Total number of slots: 20
Age group: 18 to 45
Gender ratio: To encourage female travelers, we will ensure that there is a min of 50% female participants.
Trek Difficulty: Easy for regular trekkers, Hard for first timers.
Trek Duration: 6 hours
The trek is conducted with permissions from forest department and with a guidance of a local guide.
You will have to abide by the forest department rules, as there will be a fine for littering. The forest staff will be on continuous watch on the entire trail.
Resort lovers please reconsider. This trip is only for those who wish to be close with nature.
No customized food options. Be prepared to taste the native dishes of Karnataka.
Strictly no alcohol or smoking at anytime during the trip.
First preference for solo participants and couples. Generally, we don't allow group participation in any of our trips. However, female participants are welcome to bring one of their friends along with them, while male participants can only join solo and are not permitted to bring along another person.
Couples are welcome to register. The total number of couples in a trip will be limited to one couple.

Selection Process:

Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:
- New participants:

> Solo participants will get first preference.

> Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.

> Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.

- Repeating participants:

> Preference if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories

> Or if you have referred us to someone.

> Solo participants will get preference.

Accommodation:

Male participants will stay in a comfortable dormitory. Women participants will stay in cottages on three/four occupancy.
Hot water: Available in the homestay.
Dormitories for men have shared washrooms, Cottages room for women have attached washrooms.

We will send confirmation through WhatsApp message. Incase you are not selected, you will get a regret message from us.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.
Pay Rs.3000 (if opting for 3AC) and Rs.2000 (if opting for Sleeper) to confirm the trip. Balance can be paid during the trip. This cost is non-refundable as we book the trains/vans, forest entry, and the cottage.

Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, incase you are not joining the trip. Incase a participant cancels at the last moment (within 48 hours of trip starting time), they will be requested to settle the balance trip cost.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control—train cancellation charges (up to ₹650 for 3AC and ₹300 for Sleeper Class) will be non-refundable. The remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.
