Trip Dates: 06-07 June 2026 (Saturday - Sunday)

We have been visiting Bagawathi Nature Camp and trekking Kurinjal peak trek since 2013, especially during the monsoon season. Back then, it was a hidden gem and not widely known, and we never revealed its name despite sharing many memories. Getting a booking here was once quite difficult, but today the process has become easier through the forest department, and the place is slowly gaining popularity.

So in this upcoming trip we will be trekking to the Kurinjal peak, and will stay in Bagawathi Nature Camp - the only accommodation within the National park (while other stays are situated outside the National Park or in nearby villages, atleast 10 kms away in the town). The camp location will feel truly exotic, as you will find a lot of animals roaming around freely in the campus. Infact, there were days when we used to travel all the way from Coimbatore, only to experience the stay at Bagawathi Nature Camp, and chilling around the camp, in its clear streams.

Please note:

1) This trip is quite expensive since the accommodation cost at Bagawathi nature camp itself is ₹2,800 per person and ₹500 per head for Kurinjal peak trek.

2) There won't be any network connectivity at the camp. The camp is completely located away from the noise of Kudremukh.

3) Though its called as a camp, the accommodation will be in wooden cottages & tented cottages with proper attached washrooms.

📋ITINERARY

⛰️ Day-0 (Friday, 05 June)

All Routes lead to Kurinjal

📍 Coimbatore participants:

08:30 PM - Report at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station.
09:30 PM - Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

📍 Chennai participants:

12:30 PM - Report at Chennai Central Railway Station.
01:25 PM - Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

3 AC Train ticket.

❌ Exclusions:

Meals: Dinner.

ℹ️ Additional info:

Travel time: Train journey of ~8 hours for Coimbatore participants and ~16 hours for Chennai participants.
For Bangalore participants: To join the trip, kindly plan your travel as per the details below. Please book your onward and return bus tickets on your own.
- Book a bus from Bangalore to Mangalore Bus Stand, ensuring arrival before 05:00 AM, as train participants are expected to arrive around 05:30 AM.
- If you arrive much earlier, please take a local transport to railway station (approximately 2.5 km away).
- All participants will assemble at the railway station, and by 06:30 AM, we will proceed together to Kudremukh National Park via local transport.

⛰️ Day-1 (Saturday, 06 June)

Arrivals, Nature camp & Waterfall Evening

Arrival at Mangalore Central railway station by 6:00 AM.
Proceed to the Nature camp near the Kudremukh region with breakfast en route.
Reach Nature camp, Check-in and have lunch.
Post lunch, explore waterfalls nearby.
Explore the campus, its transparent streams, go for a small hike inside the campus and followed by dinner.

All local transportation.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner.
Waterfalls Entry.

Meals: Breakfast.

ℹ️ Additional info:

Travel time: ~3-hour of road journey to reach nature camp.
Accommodation: Double/Triple sharing - Wooden cottage and Tented cottage with attached washrooms.

⛰️ Day-2 (Sunday, 07 June)

Adventure Trek day

Early breakfast and begin the trek to Kurinjal peak.
After completing the trek, return to camp and refresh.
Post lunch begin the return journey to Mangalore Central railway station
We will dine in at one of the popular Mangalorean restaurants.
11:45 PM - Coimbatore and Chennai participants, board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards their respective locations.

Meals: Breakfast and Lunch.
All local transportation and 3 AC train ticket.
Trek entry fee.
Local guide fee.

❌ Exclusions:

Meals: Dinner.

ℹ️ Additional info:

Trek Distance: 14 km to be covered in 6 hours (complete trek distance).
Travel time: ~3-hour road journey to reach Mangalore Central railway station.
Bangalore Participants – For return journey please book a bus from Mangalore to Bangalore departing around 11:00 PM from Mangalore Bus Stand.

⛰️ Day-3 (Monday, 08 June)

07:32 AM – Arrive at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station.
04:00 PM – Arrive at Chennai Central Railway Station.

Day 1 - Accommodation | Bagawathi Nature Camp, Karnataka

ℹ️TRIP COST

Participants joining from:

- Coimbatore: ₹8,800
- Chennai: ₹10,100
- Mangalore: ₹6,900

Train Preference:

- The above cost includes Train tickets in 3AC Sleeper Coaches (Coimbatore & Chennai participants)
- If you prefer 2AC Sleeper coach,
  - there will be an additional cost of ₹680 to their trip cost for Coimbatore participants.
  - there will be an additional cost of ₹1,250 to their trip cost for Chennai participants.
- If you prefer Non AC Sleeper coach,
  - there will be a reduction cost of ₹1,130 to their trip cost for Coimbatore participants.
  - there will be a reduction cost of ₹1,930 to their trip cost for Chennai participants.

(Non-Ac Sleeper is not a recommended option because of the cleanliness issue, still if preferred by participants we will check for availability and book).

Accommodation preference:

The above cost includes your stay in Tented cottage (double sharing). Other accommodation as below,

Wooden cottage, triple sharing occupancy - ₹300 per person extra
Wooden cottage, double sharing occupancy - ₹600 per person extra.

CAC trip leader (₹800).
CAC operational fee (₹1,000).

❌ Exclusions:

Meals which are not mentioned in day wise itinerary. (₹250 per meal for basic local food).
Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Any future increase in the trek fee by the Karnataka forest department will be collected from the participant. Currently it is ₹500 per head, and we have included this amount in the trip cost. We will keep the prices transparent and will share the latest prices listed on government websites if there is an increase. Karnataka Forest Department is revamping its treks, and we foresee a increase in trek costs, all over Karnataka.
Any drastic increase in fuel prices due to war / economic instability may increase the transport cost. The additional transport expenses arising due to such instances will be collected as surcharge from the participants. This is applicable only if Diesel prices go above Rs.100.
We do not foresee any train price hikes.

📝GENERAL INFO

➡️ Basics:

Total number of slots: 13.
Age group: 18 to 40.
Gender ratio: To encourage female travellers, we will ensure that there is a min of 40% female participants.
This trek is conducted with official permission from the Forest Department, and a local guide will accompany us throughout.
Strictly no alcohol or smoking at any time during the trip.
First preference for solo participants and couples are welcome to register. The total number of couples in the trip will be limited to one.
Generally, we don't allow group participation in any of our trips. However, you are permitted to bring along one of your friends or a family member with you.
Group registrations of more than 3 persons will most likely get rejected.
Mobile Connectivity: No network during the trek and inside camp very limited (Traces of BSNL).
Weather: Between 18°C - 28°C (during monsoon mostly it is cold, misty, and heavily influenced by high rainfall).

➡️ Accommodation:

Accommodation will be in wooden cottages & tented cottages on double/triple sharing occupancy, with attached washrooms.
Separate double rooms for couples can be arranged and which is subject to availability. Please contact us for details.
Hot water facility will be available at the accommodations, however expect power failures in forest regions during monsoons, that can interrupt hot water access.
Please note that customized food options will not be available. However, you’ll get to experience authentic local cuisine, so we encourage you to enjoy the local flavors of Karnataka during the trip.
No TV/Music at the cottage.
Nature lovers please reconsider. This trip is only for those who wish to be close with nature.
Strictly no alcohol or smoking at any time during the trip.

➡️ Transport:

All train tickets will be booked by CAC for participants joining from Coimbatore and Chennai.
Local transportation will be by non-AC Van.
Participants joining and departing from Mangalore on their own are requested to arrange their travel accordingly and keep at least a 2-hour buffer to avoid any unforeseen delays.

➡️ Things to carry:

Mandatory - Any Govt. issued ID card (preferably Aadhar).
Trekking Shoes and slippers.
Rain Jacket (mandatory, unless you want to enjoy the monsoons).
Umbrella (helpful when you walk around the homestay).
Cap and sunscreen to protect yourself from sun.
Any energy snack and reusable water bottle.
A small bag during the trek to carry snacks and other essentials.
Mosquito repellent.
Sanitizer spray (it will help to remove leeches easily).
Toiletries.
Note: A detailed things to carry list will be shared 2 weeks before the trip.

Note: Kurinjal receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, and the government may occasionally impose restrictions on certain activities. Such situations are beyond our control. In such cases, we may either reschedule the trip or continue as planned and arrange alternative activities.

Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:

New participants:
- Solo participants will get first preference.
- Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.
- Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.
Repeating participants:
- Preference will be given if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories.
- Or if you have referred us to someone.

Invitation and Selection Process: Once registered, shortlisted participants will receive an official invitation to join the trip along with details for making the advance payment.

Advance Payment: Shortlisted participants will receive advance payment instructions. Your slot for the trip will be confirmed only upon successful payment of the advance.

The selection process is solely at the discretion of the Coimbatore Adventure Club. If all slots are filled, we will notify you and place you on a waitlist.

➡️ Payment process:

Confirm your spot with an initial payment of ₹5,000 and it is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Option to pay advance amount through credit cards / wallets are also possible. Do request us at the time of payment.
Balance payment to be settled 30 days before the trip. Otherwise the balance payment has to be brought as cash during the trip.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.

➡️ Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, in case you are not joining the trip. In case a participant cancels at the last moment (within 48 hours of trip starting time), they will be requested to settle at least 75% of the total trip cost.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, floods, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control—train/bus cancellation charges of ₹1,000 (depending on boarding and drop points) will be non-refundable. The remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.

Important Notice:

Coimbatore Adventure Club reserves the right to remove any participant from the trip at any time if they engage in any illicit or inappropriate behavior. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all travelers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
In case of misbehavior, the concerned participant can be sent home without any refund.
Please note that there could be small changes in the itinerary due to weather, local restrictions or any unforeseen circumstances. Suitable alternative plans will be made in such cases.
