How about a trip to a remote mountain in the Western Ghats? A journey that has all the right elements for a perfect mountain adventure.

Roaring waterfalls, treks through dense forest canopies and lush green meadows, and a night stay in a cozy cottage set amidst plantations and flowing streams. Add to it the cool weather and fresh mountain air that refreshes your mind and body—leaving you with that feeling of, “Phew, what a weekend!”

And there’s more. Ever felt like you’re inside a washing machine? That’s exactly how the jeep ride will feel as you descend from the Kodachadri hills after the trek—bumpy, fun, and unforgettable!

As the sun sets behind the hills, the sky paints itself in soft colors, and the night brings a peaceful silence broken only by crickets and distant streams. It’s a space where time slows down, and nature takes over.

This trek takes you through some of the most beautiful trails, with views so breathtaking that they will stay with you long after the journey ends.

📖ITINERARY

🌸 Day-0 (Friday, 19 June)

All Routes to Mangalore

📍 Coimbatore participants:

08:30 PM: Report at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station.
09:30 PM: Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

📍 Chennai participants:

12:30 PM: Report at Chennai Central Railway Station.
01:25 PM: Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards Mangalore Central.

📍 Bangalore participants:

08:30 PM - Report at KEMPEGOWDA BS TERMINAL 2.
09.00 PM - Board KSRTC Bus to Mangalore.

✅ Inclusions:

3 AC Train ticket and and KSRTC Bus ticket.

❌ Exclusions:

Meals: Dinner.

ℹ️ Additional info:

Travel time: Train journey of ~8 hours for Coimbatore participants, ~16 hours for Chennai participants and Bus journey of ~9 hours for Bangalore participants.
Bangalore participants: The mentioned bus is a semi-sleeper, and there is no sleeper bus available for this route. If you prefer a sleeper option, you may travel by train between Bangalore and Mangalore and join the rest of the participants at Mangalore Railway Station. Kindly choose your preferred option during registration.

🌸 Day-1 (Saturday, 20 June)

Bangalore Participants will arrive Homestay at 06.00 AM and can rest
Coimbatore & Chennai participants will arrive at Mangalore Central Railway Station by 06:00 AM.
Proceed towards the homestay in Shimoga, with breakfast en route.
After an authentic Malnad lunch, visit Nagara Fort.
In the evening, take a walk to the Sharavathi backwaters near the homestay.
Explore the homestay estate, followed by dinner and games.

Travel time: ~3 hours of road journey to reach homestay from railway station.
Accommodation at Simha Farms is an homestay, nestled within a coffee estate near the Sharavathi backwaters. A premium and secluded property that offers a unique and delightful stay experience.

🌸 Day-2 (Sunday, 21 June)

Kodachadri Peak Day – Trek, Trails & Scenic Return

Start the day with a Malnad breakfast and proceed for the peak trek.
Take a short off-road jeep ride to reach the forest entry point.
Begin the trek, passing through Hindlumane waterfalls, dense forests, streams, and lush meadows.
Enjoy a packed lunch at the meadows, midway to the peak.
Reach the peak and begin the descent to the jeep pickup point.
Return to the homestay via an off-road jeep ride.
Freshen up and depart from Simha Farms towards Mangalore.
En route, stop at Udupi for dinner—seafood lovers can explore local options, while vegetarians will dine at a veg restaurant.

Departure details:

📍 Coimbatore and Chennai participants:

11:00 PM - Report at Mangalore Central Railway Station.
11:45 PM - Board the West Coast SF Express (Train No. 22637) towards their respective locations.

📍 Bangalore participants:

07:30 PM - Report at Nittur Bus Stand.
08:15 PM - Board KSRTC bus.

Van for local transport and jeep for off road routes.
3 AC train ticket and KSRTC Bus ticket.
Karnataka forest trek entry fee.
Local guide fee.

❌ Exclusions:

Trek Distance: 15 km to be covered in 8 hours (complete trek distance).
Travel time: ~3-hour road journey to reach Mangalore Central railway station with dinner en route.

🌸 Day-3 (Monday, 22 June)

06:00 AM - Arrive at Bangalore - KEMPEGOWDA BS MAJESTIC bus stop
07:32 AM – Arrive at Coimbatore Junction Railway Station.
04:00 PM – Arrive at Chennai Central Railway Station.

ℹ️TRIP COST

Trip cost for participants joining from Coimbatore (with 3AC Train):

Male participants: ₹8,200.
Female participants: ₹8,900.
- Optional : Coimbatore participants, If you prefer 2AC train ticket, add ₹660 or if you prefer Non AC Sleeper train ticket reduce ₹1,130 to the above trip cost.

Trip cost for participants joining from Chennai:

Extra to be added to the above Coimbatore costs.
- - For 3AC train add ₹1,300.
  - For 2AC train add ₹2,550.
  - For Non AC Sleeper train reduce ₹630.

Trip cost for participants joining from Bangalore (Non AC semi-sleeper-KSRTC bus):

Reduce ₹300 from the above Coimbatore costs.

Trip cost for participants joining from Mangalore:

Reduce ₹1,900 from the above Coimbatore costs.

Inclusions:

✔️ Accommodation in Shimoga homestay including 3 meals (starting from ₹1800 for dormitory and varies based on room type).

✔️ Transport, 3AC Sleeper train ticket for both onwards and return - ₹1,900

✔️ Van transport in Karnataka for 2 days (₹1,600).

✔️ All off-road jeep costs (₹700).

✔️ Karnataka forest department entry charge (₹400).

✔️ CAC trip leader expenses (₹900).

✔️ CAC operational fee (₹900).

Exclusions:

❌ Transport - For participants joining in Mangalore, bus/train/flight ticket bookings for onwards and return journey are to be taken care by themselves.

❌ Meals which are not included in day wise itinerary.

❌ Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control.

OPTIONAL:

For Double occupancy room: Add ₹500 per person.

IMPORTANT NOTE

Any future increase in the trek fee by the Karnataka forest department will be collected from the participant. Currently it is ₹400 per head, and we have included this amount in the trip cost. We will keep the prices transparent and will share the latest prices listed on government websites if there is an increase. Karnataka Forest Department is revamping its treks, and we foresee a increase in trek costs, all over Karnataka.
Any drastic increase in fuel prices due to war / economic instability may increase the transport cost. The additional transport expenses arising due to such instances will be collected as surcharge from the participants. This is applicable only if Diesel prices go above ₹100.
We do not foresee any train price hikes.

📝GENERAL INFO

➡️ Basics:

Total number of slots: 21.
Age group: 18 to 40.
Gender ratio: To encourage female travellers, we will ensure that there is a min of 40% female participants.
Strictly no alcohol or smoking at anytime during the trip.
First preference for solo participants and couples are welcome to register. The total number of couples in the trip will be limited to one.
Generally, we don't allow group participation in any of our trips. However, you are permitted to bring along one of your friends or a family member with you.
Group registrations of more than 3 persons will most likely get rejected.
Mobile Connectivity: Very limited traces of Airtel & BSNL.
Weather: Temperatures between 18°C - 28°C.

➡️ Accommodation:

In Accommodation male participants will stay in a comfortable dormitory rooms and female participants will stay in Quad/triple sharing rooms in cottages.
Dormitories for men have shared washrooms, Cottage room for women have attached washrooms.
Double sharing rooms can be arranged at an additional cost of ₹500 per person and which is subject to availability. Please contact us to know the availability.
Separate double rooms for couples can be arranged at an additional cost of ₹500 per person and which is subject to availability. Please contact us to know the availability.
Hot water facility will be available at the accommodations, however expect power failures in forest regions during monsoons, that can interrupt hot water access.
Please note that customized food options will not be available. However, you’ll get to experience authentic local cuisine, so we encourage you to enjoy the local flavors of Karnataka during the trip.
Only vegetarian food will be provided at the homestay.

➡️ Transport:

All train tickets will be booked by CAC for participants.
Local transportation will be by non AC Van.
Participants joining and departing from Mangalore on their own are requested to arrange their travel accordingly and keep at least a 2-hour buffer in your transit times, to avoid any unforeseen delays.

➡️ Things to carry:

Mandatory - Any Govt. issued ID card (preferably Aadhar),
Trekking Shoes and slippers,
Rain Jacket (mandatory, unless you want to enjoy the monsoons),
Umbrella (helpful when you walk around the stay),
Cap and sunscreen to protect yourself from sun,
Any energy snack and reusable water bottle,
Mosquito repellent,
Sanitizer spray (it will help to remove leeches easily),
Toiletries.
Note: A detailed things to carry list will be shared 2 weeks before the trip.

➡️ Trek details:

Trek Difficulty: 15 km to be covered in 8 hours (complete trek distance).
Note: Shimoga receives heavy rainfall during the monsoon season, and the government may occasionally impose restrictions on certain activities. Such situations are beyond our control. In such cases, we may either reschedule the trip or continue as planned and arrange alternative activities.

➡️ Selection criteria:

Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:

New participants:
- Solo participants will get first preference.
- Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.
- Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.
Repeating participants:
- Preference will be given if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories.
- Or if you have referred us to someone.

Invitation and Selection Process: Once registered, shortlisted participants will receive an official invitation to join the trip along with details for making the advance payment.

Advance Payment: Shortlisted participants will receive advance payment instructions. Your slot for the trip will be confirmed only upon successful payment of the advance.

The selection process is solely at the discretion of the Coimbatore Adventure Club. If all slots are filled, we will notify you and place you on a waitlist.

➡️ Payment process:

Confirm your spot with an initial payment of ₹4,500 and it is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Option to pay advance amount through credit cards / wallets are also possible. Do request us at the time of payment.
Balance payment to be settled 30 days before the trip. Otherwise the balance payment has to be brought as cash during the trip.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.

➡️ Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, in case you are not joining the trip. In case a participant cancels at the last moment (within 48 hours of trip starting time), they will be requested to settle at least 75% of the total trip cost.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, floods, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control—train/bus cancellation charges of ₹1,000 will be non-refundable. The remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.

Important Notice:

Coimbatore Adventure Club reserves the right to remove any participant from the trip at any time if they engage in any illicit or inappropriate behavior. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all travelers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
In case of misbehavior, the concerned participant can be sent home without any refund.
Please note that there could be small changes in the itinerary due to weather, local restrictions or any unforeseen circumstances. Suitable alternative plans will be made in such cases.
