This December we head to Nagaland for its most vibrant time of the year—the Hornbill Festival. At Kisama Heritage Village, all 17 tribes come together with dance, music, food, and crafts, bringing centuries-old traditions to life. We’ll also explore Kohima, & Dzuleke with its mix of history, markets, and local life, and stay with Naga families for home-cooked meals, stories, and a real glimpse into everyday culture. It’s a journey into the energy, pride, and warmth of Nagaland during its biggest celebration.

🧗ITINERARY:

🚌Day 1: (Wed, 03-Dec-25)

Arrive in Dimapur & travel to Zakhama

Touch down at Dimapur Airport before 3:00 PM and begin your journey to the land of festivals — Zakhama.
The drive takes around 3 hours, winding through forested hills and quiet countryside.
Once we arrive, we’ll check into our homestay — the warm home of a simple Naga family. After settling in, we’ll have dinner, do a quick group introduction session, and get ready for the festival tomorrow.

🚌 Day 2: (Thu, 04-Dec-25):

Kisama - The Biggest tribal cultural festival

Today is all about immersing yourself in the heart of Nagaland’s grandest celebration — the Hornbill Festival at Kisama Heritage Village.
Spend the day exploring the vibrant festival grounds, witnessing jaw-dropping performances, traditional games, and re-enactments that showcase the rich tribal heritage of the Nagas. Don’t miss the chance to taste the incredible variety of local delicacies — especially if you’re a non-vegetarian who loves experimenting with bold flavors.
After an eventful day, we’ll head back to our homestay to rest and recharge.

🚌 Day 3: (Fri, 05-Dec-25)

Immersing in the Hornbill Festival and Dzuleke

We’ll spend the first half of the day continuing our immersion into the vibrant world of Naga culture at the Hornbill Festival in Kisama — filled with music, traditional dances, local crafts, and authentic Naga cuisine.
By afternoon, we’ll head towards Dzuleke - known for its quiet charm and pristine surroundings. This is an exotic small rainforest village of only 32 households, where everyone is known to each other. We’ll explore the village and experience its warmth and simplicity.
By evening, we will return to Zakhama for the night.

🚌 Day 4: (Sat, 06-Dec-25)

Kohima - The State Capital

After breakfast, we’ll check out and head to Kohima, the state capital. Here, tradition meets modern life as we explore key landmarks: the World War II Cemetery, the State Museum, and the bustling local markets that paint a vivid picture of everyday Naga life.
The War Cemetery stands as a quiet reminder of the battles fought here, while the State Museum offers insight into tribal identities, customs, and stories passed down through generations. Later, we’ll walk through Kohima’s lively bazaar streets - where everyday life unfolds in colorful stalls of spices, bamboo crafts, smoked meats, and traditional wear.
We conclude the day in Kohima, settling into our homestay for the night.

🚌 Day 5: (Sun, 07-Dec-25)

Final day of the trip

Day to Depart- we will be taking the flights from Dimapur, which is a 3-hour drive from our homestay. We will start from homestay around 08:00am.
Book flights from Dimapur after 03:00pm.

Exclusions:

- Meals which are not mentioned in the itinerary are excluded.

- Hotel & driver tips, if any (since the locals earn low wages, your tips will show your appreciation)
- Any personal expenses
- Cost incidental to any change in the itinerary/stay on account of flight cancellation due to bad weather, ill health, roadblocks, landslides, floods and/or any factors beyond control. If flights get cancelled due to weather, we will arrange alternative stay at minimal cost.

Payment Terms:

- Confirm your spot with an initial payment of ₹10,000 and it is strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Balance payment to be settled during the trip.
- Advance payment can be made through credit cards. Balance payment has to be paid only in Cash.

Basics:

Total number of slots: 12
Age group: 18 to 38
Gender ratio: To encourage female travelers, we will ensure that there is a min of 40% female participants.
First preference for solo participants and couples.
Group registrations of more than 2 persons will most likely get rejected.
Please note that there could be small changes in the itinerary due to local restrictions, and suitable alternative plans will made in such cases.
All activities are subject to weather and local rules.

Flights:

We will try to travel together from Chennai. At the time of confirmation, we will let you know which flights needs to be booked, so that the entire team travels together. We can help you if you really need any flight booking assistance.
Onward flight: Land in Dimapur airport (DMU) any time before 03:30 PM on 03-Dec'25.
Return flight: Fly from Dimapur airport (DMU) any time after 03:00 PM on 08-Dec'25.
Please book flights only after you make the advance payment for the trip, and after receiving an acknowledgement from CAC about your slot confirmation.
We will provide you with the flight instructions upon confirmation.

Accommodations:

We will be staying in homestays- Triple/ Quad sharing occupancies.

Food:

We do not have control over the food menu or taste at these places. We expect everyone traveling with us to enjoy the local food.

Detailed information on Things to carry, do's and don'ts will be provided post confirmation for the trip.

Selection Process:

Selection for the trip will be at the complete discretion of Coimbatore Adventure Club. Please send us the payment only if you get a confirmation from us. We will be keeping 50:50 ratio for repeating participants and new participants. Here are some of our criteria:

New participants:

> Solo participants will get first preference.

> Or if you have a referral from our previous participants.

> Or if you have registered for some other trip with us and didn't get a slot.

Repeating participants:

> Preference if you have engaged us in your social media posts/stories.

> Or if you have referred us to someone.

> Solo participants will get preference.

Registration and Payment process:

We will send confirmation through WhatsApp message. In case you are not selected, you will get a regret message from our side.
Payment details will be shared if you are shortlisted for the trip.
After advance payment, your slot will be confirmed.

Cancellation Policy:

1) Cancellation by participant:

Advance paid during trip confirmation is strictly non-refundable at any circumstances, as we group book the trains/vans, and accommodation. Also note that the advance payment will strictly be not transferrable to someone else or to a future trip, incase you are not joining the trip. Cancellations made within 10 days of the trip require participants to cover 75% of the total trip cost, since most bookings are confirmed and non-refundable by this stage. You will be required to settle the applicable amount. Please note that non-compliance may affect your eligibility for future trips with CAC.

2) Cancellation due to unforeseen situations beyond our control:

In the event of trip cancellations due to natural calamities or unforeseen circumstances (e.g., extreme weather, political unrest, or government-imposed restrictions)—essentially, any situation beyond CAC’s control, ₹2000 will be non-refundable. However, the remaining amount can be fully transferred to rescheduled dates or applied to any other trip of your choice.

Coimbatore Adventure Club reserves the right to remove any participant from the trip at any time if they engage in any illicit or inappropriate behavior. This policy is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all travelers. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Why aren’t we visiting Dzukou Valley?

During the Hornbill Festival, Dzukou Valley gets very crowded, and the stay facilities (especially washrooms) are often limited and uncomfortable. We’ve chosen to skip it this time so you can fully enjoy Nagaland’s culture, villages, and festival without compromising on comfort or experience.
