If you want wired 3.5mm headphones for a library session while keeping a USB-C device charging, choose CableCreation USB C; if you need wireless, open-ear listening that leaves you aware of your surroundings, choose Boytond Open Ear Earbuds. For library use, I’d favor CableCreation when quiet, wired headphones are already part of your setup; Boytond is the more flexible choice when comfort and awareness matter more than blocking out distractions.
• CableCreation USB C: Its strongest feature is combining a 3.5mm audio connection with USB-C charging up to 60W. Its trade-off is that it is an adapter, not a pair of headphones, and compatibility has several caveats.
• Boytond Open Ear Earbuds: Their open-ear clip design supports wireless listening while keeping the ear canal uncovered. The trade-off is that ambient awareness also means less isolation from nearby sound.
• Choose CableCreation if you already own compatible wired headphones and want to connect them to a USB-C device while charging.
• Choose Boytond if you want Bluetooth earbuds for movement, calls, or listening without covering your ears.
CableCreation is a small USB-C adapter for connecting a device with a USB-C port to headphones, speakers, or microphones with a 3.5mm plug. Its two-port design also lets you connect a USB-C charger at the same time. That is useful for a long study session: you can keep using your wired headphones instead of switching to a wireless pair just because your device needs power. The adapter supports PD charging up to 60W, though actual charging depends on the connected device and charger.
The audio port supports digital Hi-Res audio, with DAC support for 44.1, 48, and 96 kHz sample rates and 16-, 24-, or 32-bit audio. It also supports CTIA-compatible headsets, including microphone use and certain controls on compatible devices. That makes it a practical option for someone who already likes the fit of their wired headphones, or who wants to plug a 3.5mm connection into a compatible phone, tablet, computer, or car AUX jack.
The trade-off is compatibility, not just convenience. It does not support data transfer, and it is not compatible with OMTP headsets. The adapter may not fit through phone cases thicker than 2.8 mm. Some device and headset combinations do not support specific controls or calling features; for example, volume control is not supported on iPad Pro or Apple’s 3.5mm headset. On Type-C phones without PD, charging and audio may not work simultaneously. Skip it if you want wireless listening or need a simple, universal adapter without checking your device and headset compatibility.
Boytond’s clip-on earbuds sit over the ear rather than inside the ear canal. The open design leaves the ears uncovered, which can make them appealing for walking, workouts, and other situations where hearing nearby sounds matters. The 16.3 mm drivers are described as prioritizing voice clarity rather than isolation, so the intended use leans toward calls, navigation, and podcasts rather than shutting out a busy environment.

Their open construction is also the central compromise. Leaving the ear canal uncovered helps preserve awareness, but it does not create the same separation from room noise as closed or in-ear headphones. That matters in a library: nearby conversations, chair movement, or other ambient sounds may remain noticeable. Skip Boytond if your main goal is to block out distractions, or if you specifically need a wired 3.5mm connection.
Side-by-Side: Which Should You Choose?
• Best for wired 3.5mm headphones → CableCreation USB C. It provides the connection; Boytond is a complete wireless earbud set.
• Best for listening while charging → CableCreation USB C. Its two-port design supports audio and charging together on compatible devices, with PD charging up to 60W.
• Best for library headphones you already own → CableCreation USB C. It can connect compatible wired headphones to a USB-C device, though the headphone standard and device support need checking.
• Best for walking, running, and movement → Boytond Open Ear Earbuds. Their wireless clip-on form is designed for everyday movement and outdoor activity.
• Best for long listening without frequent case charging → Boytond Open Ear Earbuds. The stated total playback is up to 50 hours with the case, compared with CableCreation, which has no battery of its own.
• Best for reducing exposure to surrounding noise → Neither is a guaranteed fit. CableCreation depends on the headphones you attach; Boytond deliberately keeps the ears open.
• Best gaming headset for library use → CableCreation only if you already have a compatible wired headset. It supports a 3.5mm headset connection, but the adapter itself is not a headset. Boytond’s open-ear design is geared toward awareness and voice clarity, not noise isolation.
Before choosing CableCreation, check three things: that your headphones use the CTIA standard rather than OMTP, that your device supports the audio and charging functions you need, and that your case does not prevent the adapter from seating properly. A 3.5mm plug alone does not guarantee that microphone, call, or volume controls will work with every combination. The adapter also does not transfer data, so it cannot replace a general-purpose USB-C hub.
Also consider what “comfortable for a long session” means to you. CableCreation adds no earbuds or headband of its own, so comfort depends on the wired headphones you connect. Boytond avoids placing an earbud inside the canal, but its clip still rests over the ear. Neither design can be called universally comfortable based on the listed specifications alone.
My Verdict
I would choose CableCreation USB C for a library setup if I already had comfortable, compatible wired headphones and wanted to keep a USB-C device charging during use. Its limitations make checking compatibility essential, but its audio-plus-charging role is clear. I’d pick Boytond instead for movement, calls, or situations where awareness matters more than blocking noise. For my library use, CableCreation is the more useful fit—not because it supplies the headphones, but because it lets compatible wired ones work with a USB-C device.
They may suit someone who wants an open-ear design and does not mind hearing surrounding sounds. If your library session depends on blocking distractions, their open construction may be a drawback.
It is designed to provide a 3.5mm audio port and a USB-C charging connection together, with PD charging support up to 60W. Simultaneous use can depend on the device; phones without PD may prioritize charging over audio.
Boytond is described as supporting hands-free communication and voice clarity. CableCreation can support calls with compatible CTIA headsets and devices, but call support is not universal across every listed device combination.
Boytond’s open-ear design does not aim to seal out ambient sound. CableCreation is only an adapter, so noise isolation depends on the wired headphones connected to it.
