There are two railway companies at Kansai Airport: JR (Japan Railways) and Nankai. Use JR.
Purchase an Airport Express (Limited Express) "Haruka" ticket (reserved seat) to Tennoji at a green vending machine of JR. You need to purchase a single ticket that includes both a "basic fare ticket" and a "limited express ticket", but the machine will suggest this automatically. The cost is approximately 2500 yen.
Tips: In JR, green vending machines are for express tickets, while blue vending machines are for non-express tickets. "Green car" refers to first-class cars (which would cost around an additional 1000 yen). The vending machines should have an English language option.
Go through the JR ticket gate (by inserting your ticket into the machine). Board the Airport Express (Limited Express) "Haruka" that you researved.
Get off at Tennoji Station. This ride takes around 35 minutes.
At JR Tennoji Station, go through the "East Exit" ticket gate (by inserting your ticket into the machine, as always). Once outside the station, walk 50 meters to the left along the main street. You will see Miyako City Osaka Tennoji across the street.

At the East Exit (East Gate) of JR Tennoji Station, purchase a 190-yen ticket at a blue vending machine of JR.
Go through the ticket gate at the East Exit of JR. Board a "Local" train on the "Hanwa" Line (Tennoji is the starting station of Hanwa line). It almost always departs from platform 8, but check the electronic board to confirm. Local trains depart every 15-20 minutes.
Get off at Sugimotocho Station. If the door doesn't open automatically, press the "open" button next to the door. This ride takes around 15 minutes.
Tips: There is no elevator from the platform at Sugimotocho Station. If you need wheelchair access, consult a station officer at JR Tennoji Station.
At Sugimotocho Station, exit through the East Exit. From there, you can see the campus surrounded by trees.
