# Privacy Policy for C3 WiFi Controller
Effective date: March 12, 2026
C3 WiFi Controller is provided by C3 Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how the app processes information when you use it to discover, connect to, and configure compatible hardware devices over Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE).
## Summary
- The app is designed to work primarily locally on your device.
- The app does not include analytics, advertising SDKs, or user account features.
- The app does not send your Wi-Fi credentials to C3 Labs servers.
- Wi-Fi credentials you enter are transmitted directly from your phone to your selected hardware device over BLE.
- The app can read status information from the connected hardware device, such as SSID, IP address, battery level, and charging status, so it can display that information to you.
## Information We Process
### 1. Bluetooth and nearby device information
When you scan for devices, the app may access and process:
- Bluetooth device names
- Bluetooth device identifiers
- Connection state and pairing/session status
This information is used only to find compatible nearby devices, let you choose a device, connect to it, and maintain that connection while you use the app.
### 2. Wi-Fi network information you provide
When you configure a compatible device, the app processes the following information that you enter manually:
- Wi-Fi network name (SSID)
- Wi-Fi password
This information is used solely to transmit your Wi-Fi settings to the hardware device you selected. Based on the current app implementation, these credentials are not intentionally stored in app-controlled persistent storage and are not transmitted to C3 Labs-operated servers.
### 3. Device status information received from the hardware
The app may receive and display status data sent by the connected device, including:
- Wi-Fi connection status
- Current SSID reported by the device
- Local IP address reported by the device
- Battery percentage
- Charging state
- Other device-reported operational status fields
This information is processed so the app can show current device status and help you confirm the device is configured correctly.
## How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- discover compatible devices nearby
- connect your phone to a selected device over BLE
- send Wi-Fi configuration data to that device
- display device status and connection feedback
- troubleshoot connection or configuration issues within the app session
We do not use this information for advertising, profiling, or behavior tracking.
## What We Do Not Do
Based on the current version of the app code:
- We do not create user accounts.
- We do not collect payment information.
- We do not include in-app advertising.
- We do not use third-party analytics or marketing SDKs.
- We do not intentionally store your Wi-Fi password in persistent app storage.
- We do not transmit your Wi-Fi credentials to C3 Labs servers.
## Permissions
The app may request or declare access to the following device capabilities because they are needed for BLE device setup and related mobile platform behavior:
- Bluetooth access, including scanning and connecting to nearby devices
- Location access on certain Android versions, where the operating system requires location permission for BLE scanning
- Local network-related access on iOS where required by platform configuration
The app requests these capabilities to enable device discovery, connection, and configuration. The app is not designed to use BLE-related permissions to infer your physical location.
## Data Storage and Retention
The app is designed to process most information in memory during active use.
- Bluetooth scan results and connection state are handled during the current app session.
- Device status data is displayed while the device is connected.
- Wi-Fi credentials are used to prepare and send a configuration message to the selected hardware device.
- The password field is cleared in the app after a successful send.
We do not intentionally maintain a backend database of this information through the app itself.
Please note that mobile operating systems may generate their own diagnostic logs, crash logs, backups, or Bluetooth/system records outside the app's direct control.
## Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell or rent personal information.
The app is designed so that information stays on your device or is sent directly to the hardware device you choose to configure. We may disclose information only in limited circumstances such as:
- if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or government request
- to protect rights, safety, or security
- in connection with a business transfer involving the app or related assets, subject to applicable law
## Hardware Device Responsibility
This Privacy Policy applies to the mobile app. Once Wi-Fi credentials or other configuration data are sent to the hardware device, the handling of that data by the device firmware, local network, or downstream services used by that hardware may be subject to separate terms, documentation, or privacy practices.
## Security
We use reasonable measures within the app's design to reduce unnecessary data exposure. However, no wireless transmission or mobile device environment can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
You are responsible for:
- choosing a trusted device before sending credentials
- securing access to your phone or tablet
- reviewing the security posture of the hardware device you are configuring
## Your Choices
You can choose whether to:
- grant Bluetooth and related permissions
- scan for nearby devices
- connect to a device
- enter Wi-Fi credentials into the app
If you deny required permissions, some or all app functionality may not work.
## Children's Privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly design the app to collect personal information from children through account creation, analytics profiles, or similar consumer data practices.
## International Use
Because the app functions primarily locally on your device and does not currently rely on C3 Labs-operated backend services for core configuration features, cross-border transfers initiated by C3 Labs through the app are limited. However, platform providers, app stores, website hosts, device manufacturers, or network operators may process data under their own terms.
## External Links
The app may open external web pages, such as the official support or policy page. If you open an external site, your use of that site is governed by its own terms and privacy practices.
## Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect app changes, legal requirements, or operational updates. The updated version will become effective on the date shown at the top of the policy unless stated otherwise.
