C-Wild Griesser

Cooperation - Cognition- Communication - Conservation - Climate Change

Research in the C-Wild Griesser lab aims to discover why animals cooperate, why animals live in family groups, what makes animals clever, and what we can learn from animals about linguistics. We use field experiments, behavioural data, long-term data, and comparative data across species, and explore the underlying mechanism of sociality leveraging diverse approaches. We link these insights to conservation, species resilience and climate change adaptation and mitigation.

We  share our research efforts with C-Wild Warrington, being part of the C-Wild Connect Initiative

Our Research Themes

We investigate the drivers of cooperation across species
We use field experiments to understand what offspring learn
We investigate the drivers of brain size across species
We listen to our animals to understand their communication system
We use field experiment to understand the benefits of group living
We link individual behaviours to the potential to cope with future climate
