Why “88 MPH”?THIS AIN'T YOUR GRANDADDY'S JAZZ!Jazz has been around for nearly 2 centuries. There have been many changes to its form and style during that time. From Dixieland to Big Band, from Bebop to Fusion and Contemporary, etc., each change was revolutionary and considered “The Future of Jazz”. Its seems that now we have either hit a brick wall with contemporary or people are trying too hard to preserve the past. Preserving the past is VITAL, but at the same time we CAN NOT AND MUST NOT STOP PROGRESS.
88 MPH is a reference to an old 80’s Sci Fi movie about time travel. In that movie, in order to operate the time vehicle and move through time you have to drive that vehicle to a speed of 88 MPH. I wish to be “The Future of Jazz” and join the ranks of pioneers like Duke Ellington, Fletcher Henderson, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock, Chuck Brown and countless others that came before me. When this album reaches 88 MPH, you’re gonna see some serious……….
