Teaching & Supervision

I am a Fellow of Advance HE (UK) (awarded in March 2022) in recognition of attaining the UK Professional Standards Framework (Descriptor 2) for teaching and learning in higher education. Since 2023, I have been one of the Assessors of the University of Manchester Advance HE Fellowship Scheme for the Associate Fellow and Fellow level accreditations.
In July 2025, I taught a course on grammatical theory at The NYI Global Institute of Cultural, Cognitive, and Linguistic Studies. My course introduced a constraint-based theoretical framework and its computational implementation, including treebanks and grammar engineering. From 2023 to 2024, I served as a Lecturer in the MA in Linguistics programme at the University of Hong Kong. My duties involved supervising research projects related to syntax, semantics, and bilingualism, including outstanding student dissertations that have been indexed by the HKU Scholars Hub. In 2021, I taught the weekly seminars of the Typology course for second- and third-year undergraduate students at the University of Manchester.
Having received four years of teacher training at the University of Hong Kong, I am a qualified teacher registered with the Hong Kong Education Bureau. During the four years of teacher training (2011-2015), I taught English to students in Hong Kong at different local schools. Upon graduation, I continued teaching in Hong Kong for several years before embarking on PhD studies in 2019. Some of the classes I taught were at the pre-university level, preparing the students for English proficiency tests as part of the university entrance exam in Hong Kong. I also had the experience of teaching summer English sessions in the UK in 2024.
