Method 1 :

Converting a picture into Black and White Photo in Windows :

For converting an image into black and white in windows, we will use the Microsoft windows preinstalled app "MS Paint". Follow the simple steps given below :

Step 1 :

Press the Window button and R button simultaneously. By pressing these, the "Run" dialog box will be opened. After it, type "MSPaint" in that dialog box and press "Enter." MS Paint will be opened. Another way to open paint is to just from the Start menu.

Step 2:

Now the second step is to open the image which you want to convert into the black and white. For this, click the "File" menu at the top left of the Paint window, and select "Open." Browse to the location of the photo and double-click on that photo. The picture will be shown in the MS Paint. If you want to open a photo in an easy way, then you can drag and drop the photo into the MS Paint window

Step 3 :

You will see the "Image" menu at the top side of the MS Paint, just go there and select the "Attributes."

Step 4 :

Now you will see the radio button labelled "Black and White", select that and click "Yes" to confirm.

Step 5 :

Now Click "File," then click "Save As." Save your image to a new location to preserve the original photo. Changing a colour photo to black and white in Paint changes it to a monochrome image with only two colours. This may cause some loss of detail. To change the photo to a more natural-looking grayscale image instead, see Section 2.

Method 2 :

Converting a picture into Black and White Photo in MAC :

To convert a picture into black and white, you can use 2 default apps of MAC operating system. 1st one is the "Preview app" and 2nd one is "Photos" app. You can find these apps easily by the help of finder. Follow the steps below to convert photo into black and white in MAC OS X.

Our first choice to convert the photo into the black and white is the Preview app. It is a preinstalled app on MAC OS x. Just make a copy of the picture before editing anything. Because if you will not keep the copy of picture then you can lose the original version of that photograph.

Step 1: First open preview app by the help of finder. After it, head over to the File menu and click on open. A dialog box will be open. Now, you have to choose a photograph which you want to convert into black and white.

Step 2: Go to the tools menu from the top menu bar. Click on the Adjust colour. A new window will be opened. Just go to the saturation slider as shown in the screenshot below.

Step 3: Just drag the Saturation slider to the left side until the point when there is no more colour in your photo. Your picture will be converted into black and white. Just save it in your drive.

How to convert an image to black and white with Photos for Mac

The Photos for Mac allows you to organize or share your photos, while its users can also use it to edit their photos. If you would like to use Photos to create black and white images, just follow these steps.

• After you've opened the app, browse through your photo library to find the photo you want to convert to black and white and double-click on it.

• Hit the Edit Photo button, located at the top of the window and then click on the Adjust icon in order to gain access to photo editing features.

• The black and white menu will enable you to adjust the intensity of the black and white effect you are applying and if you want to fine-tune your photo you can also play around with Neutrals, Grain or Tone options. Save the changes you've made to your photo.

Method 3 :

Converting a picture into Black and White Photo in Android :

Black and white images are very powerful. They focus on texture, shape, form, and contrast in ways that colour images don’t. You can convert any image into Black and white by inbuilt Android app "Google Photos". Or you can do it via downloading the third-party apps from play store.

Here we will tell you, how you can convert any photograph into Black and white photo by the help of Google Photos. Just follow these simple steps below:

Step 1: Open Google Photos app from your applications in android Smartphone.

Step 2: Open the picture which you want to convert into black and white.

Step 3: Go to the 2nd option from the bottom menu as shown in the figure below.

Step 4: Click again on the 2nd option from below options.

Step 5: You will see the colour option. Just Slide this on the left side. Your picture will be converted into black and white.

There are many online tools or websites available to convert your picture into the black and white. But here I will tell you about the 2 simple websites by which you can convert any image into the black and white easily within just 1 minute. Just follow the steps given below :

The first website is Photopea and the 2nd website is Pixlr.

How to convert image into black and white by Photopea?

Step 1: First go to the Photopea.com. You will see the 3 options on the home page - "New Project", "Open from Computer" and "Demo". Just click on "Open from computer". Now select the image from your computer's location and open it.

Step 2: Now see the menu bar from the top side of the website. You will see the "Image" option. Go to the "Image" option and select "Adjustments" and now select "Desaturate".

Click on Image>Adjustment>Desaturate.

How to convert image into black and white by Pixlr?

In Pixlr, it has also the same procedure. Just open image from your computer in Pixlr website. Go to the menu bar and select Adjustment>Desaturate. It is very simple. Your picture will be converted into black and white.
