Sgt Joe Conti

Sgt. Joe Conti graduated from SUNY Brockport and later attended the Albany Training Academy for the New York State Department of Corrections. For 11 years, he worked as a Correction Officer at Fishkill Correctional Facility in Beacon  He was trained as a Police Officer at the Ulster County Police Academy.  Sgt. Conti has been a police officer for 19 years in Beacon.  He was promoted to the position of Police Sergeant in 2017.  


Sgt. Conti enjoys working with the kids during the BYPA each summer.  He hopes that through his interactions and support he can assist the participants with their career choices.  In his spare time, Sgt. Conti enjoys working out, hiking,  traveling, and hanging with his dog.  


Ret PO Joe Galbo

Ret. Officer Galbo attended Iona College in New Rochelle, NY and studied criminal justice.  After college, he worked in the security field, in many different capacities.  He attended the New York State Corrections Academy in Albany and worked as a Corrections Officer from 1997-2004 at Sing-Sing, Bedford Hills and Fishkill Correctional Facility.  

In 2004, Ret. Officer Galbo graduated from the Westchester County Police Academy.  He served as a Police Officer in the City of New Rochelle and then the Town of Mamaroneck until he retired in 2015.  

Ret. Officer Galbo is the driving force behind our Youth Police Academy.  He coordinates the program each year and works as an instructor.  As a child and young man, Ret. Officer Galbo always wanted to be a police officer. He hopes that this program will give the youth in our community the tools they need to pursue their dreams for the future.  

Det Sgt Jason Johnson

Det. Sgt. Jason Johnson always wanted to be a City of Beacon police officer in order to serve the community he grew up in and to follow in his father’s footsteps. He attended the Dutchess County Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2004. Det. Sgt. Johnson has been employed as an officer by the City of Beacon for over 18 years with a promotion to Detective in 2015 and Detective Sergeant in 2017. He is also currently the only officer in the City of Beacon Police Department’s motorcycle division.

Prior to the police department, Det. Sgt. Johnson attended the New York State Department of Corrections Academy in Albany and worked as a Correction Officer at Downstate Correctional Facility from 2000-2003. 

When he finds himself with free time, Det. Sgt. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family, riding motorcycles and working on cars.  


PO Alyssa rudden

Officer Alyssa Rudden graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and a concentration in Criminology. Officer Rudden attended the Ulster County Law Enforcement Training Group in Kingston NY in 2015 and after graduating the police academy, she worked for the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department. In 2017 she began working for the City of Beacon Police Department where she eventually became one of the department's instructors for a multitude of topics including Taser, Sexual Harassment, and Workplace Violence. She also is a certified field training officer where she trains new officers who have either just graduated the police academy or have transferred from another police department. Officer Rudden has wanted to be a police officer since she was very young and hopes her involvement with the Beacon Youth Police Academy will assist students with their career choices and goals. In her spare time, she enjoys playing video games and spending time with her daughter. 


PO SAMANTHA MILANI

Officer Milani graduated from Dutchess Community College in 2013 with her Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. Later, she attended the Albany Training Academy for the New York State Department of Corrections. For 4.5 years she was a Correctional Officer at Greene and later transferred to Green Haven Correctional where she remained until she began her career with the Beacon Police Department once graduated from the Dutchess County Law Enforcement Academy. 

Officer Milani has wanted to be a police officer since she was a little girl and hopes her involvement with the Beacon Youth Police Academy will assist students with their career choices and goals. In her spare time she loves to hike, cook, and spend time with her dog.




Det Brian lawrence 


Detective Brian Lawrence graduated the Dutchess County Police Academy in 2004. He worked for the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office for three years until he was hired by the City of Beacon Police Department in 2007. Throughout his time at Beacon he’s successfully completed training in Interviewing Child Victims, Police Juvenile Officers, FBI Advanced Photography, and FBI Crime Scene Investigation. In 2017 he became a certified Bicycle Patrol Officer.  In 2019 he was promoted to Detective.

In his free time Detective Lawrence is in avid golfer. When he’s not working he enjoys golfing with his son.
