Transgender Honduran Artist
I recently graduated from the Art and Design Foundation program at the George Brown School of Design. This one-year program helped me build my portfolio and get professional guidance. Throughout the year, I learned multiple drawing techniques, digital illustrations, Painting, sculpting, and creative writing. This program also made me think more about colour theory and the necessary elements to improve my art pieces to have a professional portfolio by introducing me to different mediums and techniques to build a well-rounded portfolio. Studying Art and Design Foundations helped me learn more about what type of artist I am and how to be more critical of my work. It also gave me the confidence to start selling my work and build my brand, By Erikson.
My previous experience in the arts started In high school; I started painting and placed all my focus on art class. My efforts and commitment granted me to be a Student Creative Director. My role was to illustrate posters and flyers for events at the school. I was able to create and execute different ideas in a short amount of time. In grade 9, I was awarded the Artist Of The Year Award, and every year the school sponsored me to attend the Art Leadership Camp, OELC. As a young artist, this camp taught me more about the arts and how to be part of a creative team and collaborate to create events and group projects based on activism.
