About the Department
Brief History
The Department of Botany was started in the year 1971-72 as an undergraduate department. It bloomed into a postgraduate department in the academic year 2012-13. It upgraded itself into the Centre for Research in the the year 2014-15.
Laboratories
The research laboratory of the Botany is well equipped to conduct research on various aspects viz. Biotechnology, Microbiology, Phycology, Mycology and Physiology . The research lab has a state of art facility in Microbiology. UG and PG laboratories are well equipped to conduct practical sessions.
Seminars and Workshops
To constantly encourage students to update their knowledge, the department organizes various seminars and workshops, taking the frontiers of education beyond books. The Department also aims to widen the students’ knowledge on career prospects.

Our Alumni are well placed within and outside the country.

The department has signed MOU for Research and Training.

Extension activity
The Department organizes community service extension activities on Awareness programme on Denque Management, Mosquito control, and COVID.
