The conference will take place at Wembley Inn Hotel, located in Praia das Toninhas (Ubatuba), on the coast of the state of São Paulo, in Brazil. The nearest airport is São Paulo International Airport (GRU). All talks, accommodation and meals will all be organized on-site at the hotel.
All reservations must be made through the workshop organization. We are currently negotiating rates and payment conditions with the hotel and will inform registered participants as soon as the details are finalized.
Participants are expected to arrive on Sunday, August 23, in the afternoon, and leave on Saturday, August 29, in the morning.
We will arrange several shuttle services between São Paulo International Airport (GRU)/downtown São Paulo and the conference hotel at different times throughout Sunday (August 23), as well as return shuttles on Saturday (August 29).
Depending on your country of citizenship, you may be required to obtain a visa in order to travel to Brazil. Please verify the regulations applicable to your case. Note that people travelling with a US passport do need a visa.
In August, temperatures in Ubatuba typically range from 15°C to 30°C.
The Brazilian currency is the real (R$) – plural, reais. International credit cards are widely accepted, but it is advisable to carry some cash (in reais) for small expenses. If you are traveling directly to the conference, we strongly recommend exchanging currency at the airport, as there may be no place near the hotel to do so and bank machines may not be available.
The regular registration fee is payable in cash upon arrival, either in Brazilian reais (600 BRL), U.S. dollars (120 USD), or euros (100 EUR) for researchers affiliated with institutions outside Latin America. As part of our policy to encourage participation from the Latin American community, researchers affiliated with Latin American institutions will pay a reduced fee of 400 BRL.
Students pay half of the corresponding amount: 300 BRL, 60 USD, or 50 EUR for students from institutions outside Latin America; 200 BRL for students from Latin American institutions.
