Buzzard Gulch was born from a love of fishing and the great outdoors. Ron and Mary Cobean found an ideal location in Central Alberta to begin their family campsite in 1990. The highlight of the campground was three main ponds formed by mine pits in the area and connected by canals which Ron quickly stocked with trout, and proved to be an excellent fishing spot!
As family and friends began to gather around the ponds enjoying camping and fishing with their families, Ron and Mary Cobean expanded their vision and began to add yearly leased sites (May to October) in the campground for more people to enjoy. Our family run operation has been paramount in allowing people from all over Alberta to join us and enjoy some time spent relaxing.
Though small at the start it has now grown to over one hundred lots. In 2018, their passion for this recreational family camping site was passed on to their daughters, who began running the campground as a tribute to their parent’s legacy.
Beyond camping and fishing there are many activities for children and the young at heart. The water at Buzzard Gulch is unique as it is fed directly from an artesian aquifer and aerated year round to ensure it’s pristine quality. If fishing isn't for you, our ponds are also for swimming and non-motorized water sports. Enjoy a picnic near the waters edge, go explore our woods and hillsides or send the kids to the playground and get some fishing done!
