Writing notecards is a fun activity, and it can also be a good way to save yourself some time. However, if you are not careful, you might forget some important information on your cards, making them worthless.


If you do not print the information from your card, put it back in the envelope as soon as you are done with it. For instance, if you write down your name and contact information, but do not put it back into the envelope, you might forget it when you get ready to mail the information out. So, put it back before you put it into the envelope. If you cannot recall everything, leave a space for you to insert a note saying so. If you want to add to the note, insert the information you want to include at the end of the note, rather than writing it all in one go.


If you have questions, you can write them on the back of the cards. This is particularly true if you are sending out several cards. Sometimes you will find your question is answered in the cards, especially if you are trying to research something for a class project. Others may have been too busy to ask and you can use the space provided on the back of the card to ask them to call you back or send an email. You can also include questions that you need answered by this time.


It is not always necessary to include everything on the front of the card. Some information will be so easy to remember that you can print it from the back. In fact, you can make it as difficult as possible for the recipient to look at the back of the card. For instance, if you are copying a data sheet, write it in the form of a question, a sentence or even an entire paragraph.


Savethe card as a text file instead of scanning it. To this end, download Microsoft Word, or Open Office from their websites. Make sure that you have all of the file formats and fonts that you will need. If you are using them in the MS Word document, ensure that they have all the options that you require, such as the basic ones, table and column controls and tabular format.


You can open Open Office from its website. The instructions will be similar to those given for Microsoft Word.


Once you have set up the Open Office document, you can then copy the card with the information on it to another file, such as an Excel spreadsheet. You can then place this spreadsheet in a separate folder and arrange all the sheets that you will need to have in the folder.
