Take With Food:
It helps reduce stomach upset.
A light meal or snack (not excessively fat) is the best choice.
Drink Water -- Not Alcohol:
It is essential to eliminate alcohol completely from your the system.
Make sure to wait at minimum 24 hours following drinking before you take Oxycodone.
Start Low (If Prescribed):
Make sure you follow the dosage exactly as prescribed by your physician.
Do not increase dosage by yourself.
Avoid These:
Grapefruit juice (can boost the levels of oxycodone present in blood)
Other sedatives, such as sleep medications and benzos (Xanax, Valium), relaxation agents
Prevent Side Effects:
Constipation - Use stool softener (e.g. or docusate) Drink fluids
Drowsiness: Do not use machinery or motors
Protection of the liver and kidneys - Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol with acetaminophen.
Avoid lying on your back or lie down aloneit could cause you to stop breathing.
For emergency assistance, dial 911 if you suspect:
Extreme drowsiness
Deep or slow breathing
In a state of confusion or not able to stay awake
Make sure you have Naloxone (Narcan) within your house if you've ever used opioids. It helps reverse the effects of overdose and be lifesaving.
