General Provisions
Valentyn Kharchenko (FOP Kharchenko Valentyn) built the BuyOrBye app. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and how it is stored. BuyOrBye respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it.
Data We Collect
The app stores the following information that you create yourself:
- Item names, photos, prices, and notes you add.
- Your item ratings (like/dislike).
- App settings (language, UI theme).
Camera and Photo Library Access
To enable core functionality, the app requests access to your device's Camera and Photo Library (Gallery). This is used strictly for taking new photos or selecting existing images from your device to add to your item cards, as well as for scanning product barcodes. The app only accesses the specific photos you select. The camera and gallery are not used for any other purposes, and all image processing happens locally on your device.
Where Data is Stored
All data you create in the app is stored locally on your device. The app does not transmit this data to our or third-party servers without your explicit action.
Google Drive Backup
If you enable the cloud backup feature, the app will request access to your Google Account (via Google Sign-In) solely to save an encrypted copy of your data into a hidden, app-specific folder on your Google Drive (appDataFolder). We do not have access to any other files on your Google Drive and do not read any other information from your Google Account.
BuyOrBye's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
You can disable backups and sign out of your account at any time via the app settings.
Third-Party Services
To automatically fetch product names and images via barcode, the app sends only the barcode number (without any of your personal data) to open product databases, such as Open Food Facts and similar public services. These services do not receive any user-identifying information.
Technical Data and Error Logs
To improve the app's stability, we may collect anonymous crash reports and basic technical data (such as device model and OS version) in the event of an app failure. This data contains no personally identifiable information.
Voluntary Support (Donations)
The app includes a button for voluntary developer support, which opens an external payment page (Monobank). The app does not process, collect, or store your credit card or financial data — this is handled entirely securely by the external payment provider.
User Rights
At any time, you can:
- Delete any individual item card.
- Completely clear all app data through the settings.
- Uninstall the app, which automatically deletes all locally stored data from your device.
Children's Privacy
The app is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age and does not knowingly collect data from minors.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on this page.
