At Buttercup Play Therapy, the therapist establishes a trusting relationship by entering into the child's world and accepting the child unconditionally.
The Play Therapist is non-judgmental and non-directive, allowing the child to explore whatever they need to, in a safe and confidential space. This establishes a feeling of permission, so that the child is free to express themselves however they wish. The child can choose whatever they want to do in the playroom, with minimal direction, they are free to interact with the play therapy 'tool-kit' as much or as little as they choose.
