Love bland? Then you’ll hate Bütter.
Bütter are an unapologetically raw band hailing from dark valleys of the Scottish Borders. Firmly set on making only the music they believe in, they take the audience hostage in their chaotic live shows boasting relentless energy and unhinged performance’s.
Bütter are the go to band when booking a guaranteed balls to the wall crowd pleaser, a night to remember. Described by some as a sonic slap in the face and by others, “one of the best live bands in the country right now” -Vic Galloway, BBC.
The band started as lighthearted indie trio in 2017 but has since morphed into its final and complete state of a five piece psych-rock, folk-pop, progressive powerhouse. Drawing inspiration from artists across the world and heavily from the raw talent of the 1960’s/70’s original rhythm and blues bands, Bütter create a sound like no other and genre fluid songs reminiscent of the Doors and The Who.
Bütter has a colourful past playing all types of unconventional gigs. From holding their own mini festival in an old quarry to smashing synthesisers at a 1920’s themed private party. Every show has its own feeling of magic and mystery - all of which has been highly documented by the band’s photographer, David ‘Darkblue’ Williamson (the 6th member).
A notable moment in the bands blossoming career was the sold out release show of their debut EP ‘OHME’ in Edinburghs Leith Depot. The crowd was wild and the performance unmatched - it was an affirming milestone for the dedicated band, a sign that this was their calling.
Since then their work hasn’t stopped, Bütter are currently self recording a mammoth 30+ track album in their secret studio. Due to be released early next year under the Edinburgh based mini label ‘New Teeth Records’, the album will hold every song the band have written to date. The reasoning behind this move is to solidify their past work, enabling them to move on and start a new musical chapter, with the aim to have a second album following shortly after. As well as this, Bütter are also in the mists of planning a double headline tour of he UK with Edinburgh band ‘WOLFNOTE’ in May. This tour, named Droch Turus (Bad Trip in Gaelic), will be entirely self funded and organised by the band themselves, a testament to Bütters strive and belief in their music.
