North Ridgeville was founded in 1810 by a group of settlers who came from Connecticut. [4] It was originally called Ridgeville Township but after mail mix ups, it was changed to North Ridgeville. Due to population growth, it became a village in 1958 and then a city in 1960. The area of Ridgeville center started as marshy woods that were paved by some of the first settlers. This area of the city has drastically changed since the

first buildings were built, but some of

the original structures still stand. The Old Towne Hall, St. Peters Church, and the First

Congregational Church are some of the historic buildings that were used by the first

community of North Ridgeville. [4] In recent years, due to the huge population growth of the

city, the roads were widened in the intersection which led to the demolition of other historic

sites located here.
