B. Goals and Objectives
Goals and objectives Fast and the Furriest are in its first three years, we want Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming to develop a loyal fan base, create partnerships with local pet shops and vets to develop cross promotion tactics, and grow from one mobile van to 5. Resource commitments we want to achieve are great products in a clean and safe environment. We also want to keep our staff informed on new techniques and breed standard grooming styles, so our staff feels comfortable and confident.
By the 5th year we’d like to begin developing our own dog shampoos, conditioners, and other dog grooming accessories. Partner up with local talent, being able to have a wider word of mouth promotional tactic. We want to be recognized as a reliable, convenient service to dogs across the Twin Cities. Being able to have the freedom to travel across the Metro State area, have flexible hours and provide independent contracting for our staff will be a plus to have long lasting employment. We want our staff to feel appreciated just as much as our customers.
As for financial performance goals, we’d like to keep overhead costs low by hiring 3-4 employees and by purchasing grooming supplies at wholesale. We are hoping that with the $45,000 invested in our personalized first sprinter van and grooming supplies, we can continue to profit off our services and be able to double our profit margin by the third year.
C. Keys to Success
Keys that Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming will need to have to be successful are very important. A Loyal customer base is the most important. Customers need to be happy with our services and want to keep coming back. When customers are happy with a service that is cost appropriate they want to tell their friends and family about that business, we hope to be that business. A service that is provided in a healthy social distant manner will help us stay open and grow. Success is defined as “The accomplishment of a goal or purpose.” We hope to be able to define our business in those terms.
Company Summary
A. Company Background
The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming is a mobile grooming service for dogs across the Twin Cities. We bring experienced groomers to the customers door and provide a totally self-sufficient grooming service, contact free! Alissa Kruger, who has been a Minneapolis resident for almost a decade, and her life partner Beyonce Knowles, is the founder of The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming and important milestones in the development of the business are first and foremost, our loyal customer base who is being provided an essential service to their furry loved ones during a time where being socially distant and cost efficiency is a priority. As times get busier and consumers are looking for ways to make their lives easier, our services will be able to grant those consumer needs. Hopefully, we can continue to grow from one Fast and the Furriest Van to a fleet of 5 and continue to provide our fine dog grooming services.
B. Resources, Facilities, and Equipment
FFGS has a personalized sprinter van equipped with up-to-date grooming tools and an array of dog shampoos, conditioners, and other styling products.
Vehicle equipment include- power generator, water heater, water tank, waste containers (both solid and liquid), proper lighting, washing space, table with lift, proper ventilation and flooring, sink, and dryer.
Grooming equipment include- clippers - $100 to $250 each, clipper blades - $13 - $100, shears - $89 to $300 each, brushes, and combs - $5 to $99
With this that was resourced from wholesale stores and bargain shopping some used, some new equipment and the talent and experience of the staff, FFGS provides satisfactory grooming services to dogs in the Twin Cities area.
C. Marketing Methods
Marketing methods Fast and the Furriest plan on using for employees are if you plan to hire a groomer, they will earn 50% of each grooming. The average mobile groomer reports grooming six dogs a day, at an average of $65 per dog. This comes out to $390/day if you are your own groomer, $195/day with an outside groomer. When contracting outside groomers we would provide the space and contract independently, like renting a chair for a hair stylist. When it comes to our customers, our contracts will be signed online when payment methods will be discussed. Only online payments will be acceptable, that will be a part of their contracts.
D. Management and Organization
Management comes with the responsibility of CEO, authority figure, and management responsibilities and that falls on the owner and partners Alissa Kruger and Beyonce Knowles. The owners’ skills they hope to be known for will need to be specific in their grooming knowledge and make sure the small staff has and knows the same information on trends and professionalism. The key people to help make this business expand to more management will come as the company grows, as of now, it will fall on the owners.
E. Ownership Structure
Stakeholders in the Mobile Dog Grooming business are the founders, Alissa Kruger and Beyonce Knowles, the vendors, clients, and any partner organizations (for example the Humane Society, local pet shops, and veterinary clinics). The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Dog Grooming, is an LQBTQ+, family-owned LLC, with all the up-to-date pet grooming licenses and business insurance.
F. Social Responsibility
The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming believes in keeping their global footprint small. While they use environmentally conscious materials when they can, they also dispose of chemicals safely as directed by city waste guidelines. They also practice social distancing measures when operating with clients during the pandemic, respecting CDC guidelines.
Since the services can be accomplished in their self-sufficient van, it is easy to comply with any noise and odor policies the Twin Cities has.
Roles that management and staff in community organizations is to develop and strengthen relationships with those partner community organizations through cohesive communication and teamwork.
G. Internal Analysis
What enterprise or business unit shows promise? Strengths that The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming has been convenience, health, safety, and comfort for clients and their four-legged family members right from their own home. Weaknesses the firm may face is the factor that it's a luxury grooming service, and some families may not see the service as essential. When it comes to the firm's competencies they hope to change those potential customers' minds. They are an operation that is a self-sufficient, salon on wheels, customized to provide a complete grooming service for pets across the Twin Cities. Warm and snug in the winter, cool and comfortable in the summer, The Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming offers a luxury grooming service at the client’s door, with emphasis on the health, safety, and comfort of the pet. Average grooming time is 1 to 1.5 hours – not all day. Clients don’t have to worry about dropping off, picking up, or leaving their dog for hours. Each appointment begins with a pet care consultation to ensure that the service the pet will receive is what the client can expect.

The services we offer for a variety of dogs are cuts & styling to each dog breed standard, nail trimming, baths with an array of products that cater to each dog’s needs or sensibilities. For example, for dogs with sensitive skin, we’ll have our very own Oatmeal Shampoo for those pups. Not only, will we have a variety of products that fits each dog’s needs, but we also will have lifelong experienced groomers on staff who will provide the finest grooming services in town. They are knowledgeable in all breeds, especially show dog breeds.
Even though we have plenty of competition with other dog groomers, there isn’t anyone like us in the Twin Cities. We are an experienced team of dog groomers, Beyonce and I. We have over 15+ years of experience with grooming dogs of all breeds of all sizes and ages. Raised on a farm, we’ve had our fair share of farm dogs to upkeep and practice on. Since, homes are spaced out far out in the country, we decided to test our business on wheels and bring our services straight to the dog owner’s home. That was a sure success and business started to boom. From there began our journey of doing what we loved, dog grooming, in a mobile fashion.
Over the years, we’ve finessed our dog grooming skills and have learned the ins and outs of traveling around grooming dogs and figuring out a way to develop our services to be self-contained and efficient. Today, we are using our learned skills and experience and applying them to the current times of busy lifestyles and even more recent lifestyles of sheltering at home/social distancing. Successful business is those who can adapt while continuing to offer superior services - and that’s what we did!
Market Assessment
A. Examining the General Market
Fast and the Furriest markets people who own pets that are busy or need the conveniences of a pet groomer that comes to them. We have a clear segment market being dog owners who need reliability, and we are the company to offer such services. Busy dog owners are having to drive their pets to and from grooming, when they can have the groomers come to their homes.
Our growth market is very large. We can target any dog owning individual or family who needs conveniences in pet owning. Our company does face threats like transportation can break down, liabilities for our staff and animals and unhappy customers who don’t like our services. On the other hand, we do face opportunities. These would include an untapped market because it’s a newer service that becomes more intriguing as covid restrictions expand. Humans are also just getting busier and busier as life gets more complicated. Our service is here to serve our furry customers but also our human ones as well.
Our competition is other mobile dog grooming companies and brick and mortar dog grooming companies. We also run up against chain dog groomers who have a tendency of being cheaper, that can sometimes correlate to lesser service. Thankfully, Fast and Furriest will be at an advantage with the groomers 15+ years’ experience and level of customer service.
Our business is very relevant because people in their 20s are having children later in life, so their dogs are theirs kids. People are willing to spend more on their pets, but they’re also busy with life.
Our population is just growing and getting more and more busy. People are looking for services that mold to their schedules. Convenience is key, especially when the service comes to you.
Legal issues we could be facing is driver licenses need to be up to date, also customers can be protective of their furry animal family members, we just need to keep in mind that they are a part of a family and equally loved and needed to be treated that way.
B. Customer Analysis
Our customers consist of dog owners who expect top notch grooming services, who have a fast-paced lifestyle, who may not have ample time to bring their beloved furry family member to the groomers. This could include show dog professionals, dogs who work on film sets, or even average family dogs who deserve the finest spa treatments. The clientele for our services may seem specific, but there is a surplus of dog owners. Especially, since the mass adoption of dogs and other pets since the beginning of the worldwide pandemic.
By offering a mobile grooming service, we can make those customers' lives a little easier. And our services are in more demand now that we are also serving customers who are taking shelter at home orders and social distancing during the pandemic. Again, being a mobile grooming service allows us to provide our services safely and efficiently.
To put it simply, we offer a dog grooming service on wheels. But we sell not just a bath, cut and style, we offer a full-blown spa and grooming treatment that is created specifically for the dog’s breed and/or their sensitivities. We’ll be able to do so because of our top of the line, eco-friendly products and grooming equipment and our team of staff who have 15+ experience.
By providing a full 1 - 1.5-hour dog grooming experience with a hint of pamper, we’ll have no problem being able to retain customers and have them scheduling out their recurring appointments. Here at The Fast and The Furriest Mobile Grooming, we understand the importance of customer service. Unlike other businesses, we have two types of customers to serve - human customers and furry customers. This takes incredible skill and adaptability to be able to work with and communicate with those customers. Fast in the Furriest does everything we can to create a happy expanded customer experience with that extra hint of pamper.
C. Industry Analysis
Types of vehicles that are typically used for dog grooming services are usually different types of vans like the sprinter van. Depending on where the business is located or working around, that could determine the type and size of the van needed to support a dog grooming business like Fast and the Furriest. We are centered more in the city, so we needed a van that was large enough to fit all the necessary tools, equipment, and products we need while also being small enough to park in higher populated cities with smaller roads. That’s why we chose to use a sprinter van that is a little taller than the normal van.
The types of equipment that is being used among the industry is standard. There’s the elevated steel bath with an extended shower faucet head piece that must be up to higher standard. When working with less predictable clients, like dogs, the equipment must be able to withstand potential intense activity, depending on the dog’s temperament. Even though we do our best to keep our dog clients calm, relaxed, and pampered, we must be prepared for anything that could happen.
This leads us to our next analysis of grooming products. While standard and sturdy equipment is vital, the products we use on our furry clients are all the same important. Typically, there are a variety of options of scented shampoos, unscented shampoos, deep conditioners, conditioners for curly hair, conditioners for tough straight hair, sensitive dry skin shampoos, and the list goes on! At Fast and Furriest, we believe in offering a unique grooming experience, so we think the best types of products to have been the top of the line product brand that has a history of being safe to use on pups while also being made of eco-friendly products.
Dog hair products are important allies to the analysis of grooming styles. Grooming styles should be done depending on breed standards. There is the chance that dog owners request a simple shave or a shortcut that isn’t the breed standard and that is ok! But we believe in having the knowledge of the current breed standards to provide that elevated service to those clients. We want to be successful in surviving not just the few, but the many.
D. Strategic Alternatives
Fast and the Furriest has a lot of opportunities that they haven’t officially started yet. Doggy daycares are becoming more and more popular as families start to get back to normal after the pandemic, also starting out as a grooming company we have an opportunity to expand to our own grooming products and finally we could partner up with local veterinarians and bring the vet visit to you.
While the pandemic has made our furry friends happier than ever. After months families are starting to get back to normal, and that means our pets are left alone for hours. Our expanded services could help fill the gaps where animals can get exercise during the day while you’re at work, so when you come home you get to just sit back and relax. You’ve trusted us with your dog's beauty, now we can take it a step further and work on their health. Along with those beauty standards our company could expand on grooming products. We promise the best customer service, now we can promise the best equipment and products as well.
Our final expansion plan is partnering with local veterinarians for a full one stop service. Our veterinarians would be available to come to your house and inspect your styled pup to make sure everything is looking great with your furry friend. Fast in the Furriest will try and do everything it can to create a happy expanded customer experience.
Strategic Implementation
A. Production
Our product is providing top of the line mobile dog grooming service, where we come to the customer to fulfill their dog grooming needs. By being self-sufficient and mobile, we’ll be able to reach an array of customers from across the Twin Cities.
We have the advantage of being mobile and self-contained compared to your regular dog groomers, where typically, you’d have to plan maybe half a day around. With Fast and the Furriest Mobile Grooming, we cut down the time spent on a task like dog grooming in HALF.
As our clientele grows, we can outreach to local pet shops and Humane Societies to hold charitable events and utilize similar opportunities as advertising. The more we put our business out there, the more people will know us and want to be interested in what we have to offer.
Technologies we use are top of the line equipment and products, in a reliable top of the line Sprinter Van. While these items are vital to how we do our work, we should also highlight the technologies of advertising and the best wait to utilize social media to help promote Fast and the Furriest.
Fast and the Furriest in its first three years, will continue to develop a loyal fan base, create partnerships with local pet shops and vets to develop cross promotion tactics, and grow from one mobile van to 5. By the 5th year we’d like to begin developing our own dog shampoos, conditioners, and other dog grooming accessories. Partnering up with local talent, being able to have a wider word of mouth promotional tactic is how we want to continuously be recognized as a reliable, convenient service to dogs across the Twin Cities. By 2025 we believe we can accomplish all our goals.
B. Resource Needs
Resource needs we will have included but are not limited to - a van, van insurance, liability insurance, yearly van tune ups and the ongoing cost of gas. Then in the interior of the van there is equipment and equipment updates, constant shampoo, conditioner, and other product inventory needs. Whoever is working the van must also have a valid license and proper insurance to cover any liabilities.
Along with resources to upkeep the van and all its needs, we need to also assess the resources needed for the workers. We need to investigate providing all the necessary tools the worker needs to be able to work in a safe and friendly environment. This includes, aprons, gloves, nail clippers, masks, and any other PPE.
Human
Fast and the Furriest Grooming is looking for talented individuals who understand doggy hair styles for all breeds. Our company isn’t going to discriminate against any dog type, so they must be knowledgeable about all hair styles. Our employees will need good eye-hand coordination, so they are careful around sharp tools. They will need to have the ability to manage temperamental dogs so patience’s and understanding of certain breeds will be necessary for their safety. Also, basic knowledge of canine health and anatomy will be important for our staff to have.
Along with the needs our employees will have to have, there will also be a need for human resources. Being a small business, our owner will be responsible for the tasks of human resources until Fast and the Furriest is able to expand. Updating policies and looking after staff will be a main priority. We want our staff to feel safe and appreciated in a time where people feel used by their places of employment. Human resource management will hire the right employees for the job and provide career growing opportunities.
Financial
Fast and the Furriest will need to take out a loan for at least $50,000 to get us started. We will start with one van and expand as our market grows. When starting we will need grooming supplies, business licensing and our mobile sprinter van. Modification for our van will cost a bit, but once it is done it will be our whole empire. We are hoping to start with a single employee along with the owners to start out. We will budget our salaries monthly and keep tips and hourly charges separate.
Cost for training won’t be necessary in the beginning because we will hire experienced employees, but as we expand we will need to add that into our budget plan. Our business will need utility maintenance, and beauty product stocking. We will keep costs down by buying just what we need to begin with and expand on grooming products as our company grows.
Physical
We are going to have low quantity but high-quality items. We will be buying slightly more expensive products, but you will know it is quality eco-friendly, locally sourced shampoos and conditioners. Our company wants to suppose its community with quality products but only buying what is needed.
C. Sourcing/Procurement Strategy
Fast and the Furriest decisions on buying products are based on locally sourced quality items and our services reflect that. We want our company to be respected in the community but also uphold a standard that is approachable but supports its community and sometimes those two things don’t go hand in hand. While our prices will be higher it will reflect our target segments values and our own to support locally sourced businesses.
Our venue suppliers for shampoos and conditioners and other beauty product needs will be sourced locally. When it comes to our supplies like equipment those will be sources from a direct manufacturer to keep down prices but also gives us the advantage of using great quality supplies.
D. Marketing Strategy
Our sales plan is selling convenient dog grooming services to the busy dog owner. Our company and all its services come to you. Ways we plan on advertising and promoting our business that will increase awareness is keep promotion local. Yelp will be a great way for our customers to talk about firsthand experiences. We will also put posters around town and business cards out at doggy daycare centers, veterinarian offices, and pet stores. Get the word out to our target segment.
Our market will be open to anyone in need of a convenient dog grooming service. Ways we will price our product will be based on the medium of dog grooming services. We want our prices to be affordable, but also this skill being a trade we want our prices to reflect our professionalism and knowledge as well.
Hedging, forward pricing, options
We will sign price contracts with our product producers to keep prices at the original price discussed. We will understand if our locally sourced products need to go up if ingredients they use increases, but we won’t take an increase on prices because of high demand. Looking at contracting our partnerships will eliminate risks we face with greed or distrust. allowing us to protect ourselves from market vulnerabilities.
Contracting
We will use production contracting for our employees as we grow so independent groomers can have a place to rent. These groomers will be able to rent vans as our company expands.
We will also be practicing marketing contracting with our distributors while we purchase products from them. Those products include all the standard grooming equipment, grooming tools, and grooming products like shampoo, conditioner, etc.
Insurance
Liability insurance will be used to cover our staff safety and our place of employment safe from any accidents that may occur in the van or from the furry client.
Other insurance that will be used is car insurance. Since our business is on wheels and mobile, we need to have car insurance to cover any accidents or damage that may occur during on and off hours of business.
Performance Standards
Our performance standard will be able to be monitored by our consistent professional performance. Our companies’ hours and employee expertise knowledge won’t waver in our professionalism. Our acceptable performance standards are nothing but the best for our customers. Our efficiency level is going to imitate the highest level of performance. The owners will be responsible for monitoring performances because they will understand the level of quality our company needs to succeed.
The procedures that will be used to monitor employee success is by incentivizing rates and reviews from customers by offering them 15% off their next visit for their opinion and constructive feedback. This should be an effective way to measure our success while also getting feedback from valuable customers.
Financial Plan
A. Financial Projections
The way we will fund our business is loans from a bank and personal funding, but bootstrapping will be the preferred way. When we take out our loans from the bank we will desire 1-1.5 debt equity ratio or around those numbers without ever going over two. We want what we own to exceed our debt. While we are looking for who has the lowest interest rate for small business loans we will be applying for business credit cards. Second, will be equipment financing because we will require a lot of equipment for our grooming business. And last will be business crowdfunding because we will be a business to customer company. We won’t need a lease financial strategy because we will own our vans. If we are unable to outright buy our vans we will be making the car payments.
We won’t be looking for outside investments while we start up our business because we’re hoping to have our own voice and want to make decisions on our own. If we had any investors it would come from friends and family. We would pay them back in the future without a strict time limit. While some will want to know how we plan on facing any risks we might come upon we will learn more about potential financial options and seek the advice of a trusted third party such as a colleague, a friend, or a professional financial adviser. Others will ask “what operating procedures, such as developing cash flow budgets or spending limits, will you have to ensure adequate money for debt repayment?” And we’ve also figured that out by developing a monthly bill payment calendar to keep our finances in check. Decide which debt to pay off first, but make sure all our bills are being paid on time. Increase monthly margins and watch inventory.
While we are getting things straightened out we must also look at important assumptions that could underlie our project like external factors such as the economy, what customers will think, and even weather with us being mobile in a state that gets pretty extremes of all four seasons, especially winters. Internal factors could include reliable staffing, human resources and upkeep on current technologies. We want to be a company that adapts to the times as well as keep our social distance, online banking apps and things that will help our company stay relevant. When we are staying up on our finances we will monitor our financial aspects by making sure our debt/equity ratios, so we know our business is growing at a good rate when our debt lessons. Procedures we will use for monitoring our overall business performance will be owner/managers Alissa and Beyonce. Our business being so small to start off won’t necessarily need someone to specifically look over everything. We want the level of our performance the first year to turn a profit or just break even, our first year will be getting our name out there and acquiring customers. After our first year we hope to increase monthly revenue amounts by 30 percent in the third and fourth quarters of the first fiscal year and grow that revenue percentage as our company gets larger and older.

B. Contingency Plan
If we cannot follow through with our primary business plan we will adapt to what customers are looking for. It will take time for us to make connections and show customers everything we offer. Being a smaller business that is personally owned by who is working there it can tweak aspects of the business. If an emergency were to happen in our business we will have different insurances for our vehicle and staff. If something were to happen to one of our customers' dogs, like a cut or a bad styling job we will do whatever it takes to make our furry friends' parents happy.
If something were to happen to a key member manager you would be able to ask one of the owners. Our business will be equally shared between Alissa and Beyonce and they will both have managing skills. Beyonce will deal with more of the financing and paperwork, while Alissa will be customer services. Both will be stylists and trainers when more staff is hired on as the company grows.
