I have a problem statement where I would like to connect my Alteryx Designer to Microsoft Business Central in order to pull in data . Is there a way I can establish this connection without having to purchase a connector?

You'll probably need to build an API connection. Basically you need to read the API documentation (here: -us/dynamics365/business-central/dev-itpro/api-reference/v2.0/) to understand what the right URL for the API call you need is, and where to get an API Token. Then you have to parse the URL and token via the Download tool.

I think part of the issue is that Microsoft has outsourced the delivery and support of this product from it's root. If the developers of the product are not customer facing, all they will continue to do is put lipstick on a pig and see how much their reps are able to gouge people for on implementations. At this day and age, setup should feel something like setting up a WordPress site... instead it feels like a failed product that Microsoft should either re-design from the ground up and actually be directly customer facing OR let this product burn in the same layer of hell with AOL, Enron and Time Warner (I hope sooner than later on this one).

I've got nothing but respect for Microsoft and the MANY great ideas and products that have helped deliver so much change in the world. Unfortunately, Dynamics is a failed idea. I vote it's either time to revamp it or sell off the product to a company that can better support it.

Where other accounting packages allow for a simple one click void of an invoice or other transaction, business central requires a credit memo & refund to be entered, just to void the invoice & shortcuts like "create corrective credit memo" will not work in a lot of situations meaning it all has to be done manually from scratch a lot of the time.

It will not allow you to edit the amounts on any posted invoice or transaction. again requires a credit memo applied to the invoice & a refund applied to the payment, even for tasks as basic as penny corrections due to VAT rounding errors. These are tasks that take a couple of seconds in quickbooks, versus 5 minutes each in BC, often more time than that if a transaction requires a bit of analysis

These are just my top 3 gripes, but i have many more. When the time comes from me to move on from this role, I will be actively avoiding any business that uses BC as it's ERP system like the plague. Its not that I am only experienced in small business packages like Quickbooks, Xero etc. I have extensive experience with Oracle too & it is so much more user friendly than BC as an ERP system from a finance worker's perspective. I have to wonder if the people at MS who code this platform have any experience in bookkeeping or accounting whatsoever. It certainly appears not.

I have read your posting and it is hard to reply but I will try... Not sure who implemented your customers or your company but there are many Partners or Private NAV/BC contractors that do not know how to implement. They have not had the experience nor understanding how to implement the functionality and features. I have been implementing, consulting, and architecting NAV/BC for over 22 years. I was a previous VP of Finance and Controller for Manufacturing and Supply Chain companies. Understanding a business, processes and best practices allow qualified implementers to truly setup, test, and migrate companies to BC.

I have worked with Netsuite / SAP One / Oracle / Business Central. I also was part of implantation team for all of them. Many points that you mentioned could be valid for all of them. I know you need partner to implement Netsuite similar to Dynamics. ERP implementation also is not an easy task. You can find a very good report named Clash of The Titans that compare all these systems together. -consulting.com/resource-center/2021-clash-of-the-titans-sap-vs-oracle-vs-microsoft-vs-infor/

At the end I think user satisfaction highly depends on how internal team train / educate end user and also quality of implementation. Sometimes a good software with bad implementation can create disaster. In addition, if internal team does not provide great education / training to end user then this could cause lots of issue.

One last question - it seems like the Mobile app (phone) is limited to the user profile. So by design (and I think I read this, but want to confirm), that the mobile app is really only for specific functionalities, and in most cases BC by design encourages use of the web app for more robust workflows.

For example, I can't search for anything in the mobile app....like one would in the web app. I mainly interface with the cue cards and some specific tables I can access based on the user profile that I am logged in as.

To access Mobile or Tablet you use the following

businesscentral.dynamics.com/.../Phone

businesscentral.dynamics.com/.../Tablet

The Mobile app has issues and is just a wrapper. IF you open your BC on a mobile device android or iphone with the above URL /phone - you will find it's the same BC loaded in full business central but adapted UI for phone.

SO - therefore if I publish code / a page / a customisation via AL - yes it can apear on the phone just like the computer, within the boundary of the UI design.

I need to know how can i share power BI reports with users sothat they can see the reports in Business Central (Cloud) not on premises. so what i did, i created a report on power BI desktop using business central datasource and published on bi services on a new workspace named (Business Central) in power BI services and give access to other power bi pro users now they users can see the reports in their BI services but these users can not see these reports inside business central. can anyone tell me how can i share reports, can anyone tell me, documentations don't help...

What is the price of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central?

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central comes in two edition that cannot be combined. Essentials is $70 per named user and Premium is $100 and adds Service Management and Manufacturing. On top of this, Team Members can be added for light use and reading access to the solution.

For licensing and pricing range in your specific case and region, please find a partner in your country, request a demo, have a chat and get an estimate on the consultancy services needed for deployment and getting started with your own Business Central.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is the cloud-based all-in-one business management solution from Microsoft. It was formerly named Microsoft Dynamics NAV, but with the move into the cloud (SaaS), Microsoft included it in the Dynamics 365 suite and named it Dynamics 365 Business Central.

The Business Central product comes in two editions: Essential and Premium, including business processes and needs like financial management, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, administration, supply chain management, planning, procurement, sales, inventory, warehouse, operations, analytics, customer management, compliance, human resources, and with premium also service management and manufacturing.

Historically, getting new versions rolled out to customers was a major challenge for Microsoft. Customers always paid a subscription fee licensing them to use new versions, but upgrading was always a highly laborious job, so the reality was always that many customers skipped many versions.

Microsoft supported each version for 5 years from the date of General Availability, and there was always a problem with customers being unable to obtain critical updates because they were running on an old version that would cost too much to upgrade.

Microsoft is trying to meet this challenge by offering an On-Premise version to businesses. This way, you still have full control of the solution, and Microsoft cannot decide when you have to upgrade or whether the solution should run on your own server in the basement or on Azure.

There is no doubt that Microsoft is concentrating mainly on the cloud edition of the solution. They release new developments on the cloud first, and some features are only available in the cloud version. 152ee80cbc
