Our 5th grade volleyball jamboree is designed to teach the game of volleyball to 5th grade students, promote school spirit, and get students excited and prepared for Middle School volleyball. The intention of the jamboree is that it is fun for all and gives 5th graders something to work towards as they practice with their classmates.Â
Jamboree Format
2 hours, games to 15pts until we run out of time, rally scoring, everyone gets even amount of playing time (coaches can designate groups by ability level if they want). Switch school opponents after first hour.
Coed - Boys and Girls together
Middle School volleyball rules with a few modifications - shortened service line if needed, maximum 5 serves in a row from same player, no position players (everyone who is in the front middle is the setter), softer ball if needed (although should be able to use middle school volleyball)
Middle School net height (7'4")
Any 5th graders can participate - no tryouts.
Practices should be clinic-style to focus on the basics and build up to playing 6v6.
The goal is 5-7 total practices before the jamboree.
