Competition Rules
Shot Put
The Shot Put will take place under standard rules with each competitor having three attempts taken in turn, the shot will weigh 2.72kg and in the event of a tie the countback rule will be used.
High Jump
Competitors may begin jumping at any height announced by the chief judge, or may pass, at their own discretion. Three consecutive missed jumps, at any height or combination of heights, will eliminate the jumper from the competition, jumpers must take off on one foot.
In the event of a tie the countback rule will be used, if this cannot split the competitors then the place will be shared, there will be NO jump-offs.
Long Jump
The Long Jump will take place under standard rules with each competitor having three jumps taken in turn, in the event of a tie the countback rule will be used.
Cricket Ball Throw
The Cricket Ball Throw will require children to take all three of their throws one after another, their best effort being recorded on the scorecard, this is to speed up the competition which has in recent years overrun due to the number of competitors involved, in the event of a tie the place will be shared.
150m and 600m
These two events will be straight finals with no heats.
50m and 75m
Depending on the number of competitors there may be the need for heats and a final.
At the beginning of the day athletes and parents will be informed as to which system will be in place.
Option 1:-
Positions will be decided solely on time and not on race position.
i.e. A competitor finishing third in race one may be placed higher than another who won heat two due to a quicker time.
Option 2:-
The six fastest times from the heats will advance to the final where the medals are decided, the final will take place shortly after the heats with the competitors being notified via the PA system.
Children MUST have their competition number clearly displayed on the front of their running top, official numbers should be attached using safety pins which are available at the registration desk.
Children are not allowed to ‘move up’ an age group to compete in an event, they must select events from the age group they currently belong to.
No parents or coaches are allowed beyond the perimeter fence at any time without permission, all spectators must walk around the fence to get to the seating area.
Medals will be presented at various times during the day, we hope this will be during a break in competition and athletes/parents will be notified of an upcoming presentation via the PA system.
The officials decision is final, under no circumstances are they to be hounded or harangued with camera phone evidence, we will endeavour to put systems in place to eliminate human error but cannot guarantee that mistakes will be completed eliminated, the senior officials today have years of experience and are qualified under UKA rules.
ANY ISSUES ARE TO BE DIRECTED TO THE COMPETITION ORGANISER.
Please enjoy the day and support ALL the children.
No matter what their ability they will give their very best this afternoon to entertain us
Many thanks
