Bunting Design Template Free Download

To hang my bunting, I folded over the denim at the very top and cut a small vertical slit on each side with scissors. Then I strung the letters on red rickrack. I used rickrack because it does a great job of holding the letters in place without them sliding around. You could also easily use ribbon, twine, or string knotted at the corners as well.

There are a few ways to secure bunting. It can be sown onto the string, glued, or stapled. You can even create bunting that ties together. You can also purchase a bunting kit to help you create your own bunting without all the legwork.

Cut out the template, and use it to trace your pennants. Then, cut them out. (If your maps were rolled like mine, a couple of swipes with your iron on its lowest setting will make them nice and flat.) I cut out 12 pennants for my garland.

I bookmarked this post a while ago and for the last day or so I've been making birthday bunting for my great niece's 3rd birthday. It's taken a little while because I have appliqud 'Happy Birthday Lucy' by hand! Thank you for the pattern and tute!

You can learn how to make bunting with this great tutorial that includes a free printable bunting template for 3 shapes. Bunting is a fun way to decorate kid's rooms, market stalls and tables at craft fairs. And what garden wedding would be complete without pretty vintage-looking bunting decor in the background?

Because the fabric bunting DIY created in this tutorial is stitched and double-sided, it can be washed and put away for future use. Paper bunting is better suited to a one-off use such as a birthday party or celebration.

Cotton fabric will always look crisp and nice. Check your scrap basket for all your leftover pieces and make your bunting cheaply! Make colorful choices - using several coordinating fabrics looks great.

Start by drawing around your template with chalk or a removable pen. If you have a fabric that doesn't have a nap or one-way design, you can save fabric by interlocking the triangle shapes. This doesn't work for fabrics with one-way designs, as your design will be facing in different directions.

Cut out your shapes. You will need 2 pieces per flag (one for the front and one for the back). How many you cut will depend on how long you need your bunting to be and how large a gap you will put between each flag. You can lay the pieces out roughly to work out how it will look.

Next I punched two holes at the top of each bunting in order to string through the natural jute string. I thought I would have to make a knot near each hole to keep the buntings from sliding around, but since the string was so rough it all stayed in place! I also made sure to leave plenty of string on each end for tying. In the case of my wedding, I safety pinned the ends to the tablecloth.

I love the way that they flap in the sunny wind, draped playfully from post to post, is magical and enchanting. Anytime I can bring bunting into a party or a room as decor, it always adds a little extra layer of fun. If you like this style as well, check out my bunting template!

For felt I like to go with an assorted pack that has patterns and solids so i can mix and match. This is perfect when using this as a craft project with the kids too! They really enjoy getting to pick their favorite colors and designs for their rooms or party.

String and ribbon can bring a lot of design elements to the project as well, solids and stripes will add dimension to the color scheme you choose.

Little extras like tufts of ribbon, bows, or my favorite, tassels add whimsy and enchantment to the final product. Maybe you want to add small hanging birds or hot glue flowers to the string as well, I feel when you layer elements, it really makes the bunting pop!
