Please note that this page unfortunately does not display correctly on smaller screens due to the presence of columns. All the Dos and Don'ts get smooshed together into a single column, so you can't tell which are Dos and which are Don'ts. Screenreaders may also struggle to follow this page. If you are having trouble reading this page, we recommend viewing the content on twitter instead. Sorry for the difficulties 😓

DO
DON'T
Choose carefully! Everybunny is deserving of a loving home, but not every home is right for every bunny. Make sure your home and lifestyle are suitable for your pet.
Rush into getting a hybrid bunny for a pet. Hybrids are not beginner pets, and they require lots of care and enrichment.
Assume competence and introduce yourself! Hybrid bunnies are very intelligent, but they can also feel frightened in new situations. They’ll appreciate knowing who they’re living with.
Treat them as if they can’t understand you. Hybrid bunnies are perceptive, and they can understand a lot more than most new owners believe.
Train your hybrid bunny! Behavioural training is a great way to bond with and mentally engage your hybrid bunny.
Let your hybrid bunny get away with bad behaviour. (Dr. Yamada is available for consultation regarding behavioural problems and training, first appointment free!)
Give them healthy snacks! Nutrition is important, so hybrid bunnies do best with a variety of plants rich in vitamins and minerals. Good options include: bok choy, fresh cilantro, fresh dill, or Sunniez™ Freeze-Dried Carrot Coins (not sponsored).
Feed them human food. While the occasional food sharing may go without issue, hybrid bunnies don’t have the same digestive capabilities as humans and should stick to leafy greens as much as possible.
Tell your them positive affirmations! Mental and emotional well-being is important for hybrid bunnies too; they want to feel loved and capable.
Insult your hybrid bunny. Although living with a hybrid bunny can be challenging and you may feel frustrated, even infrequent insults can erode your hybrid bunny’s self-worth and their trust in you.
Give your hybrid bunny a gentle scalp massage. They will thank you for it, because hybrid bunnies are prone to headaches, and massages feels very nice.
Ignore your hybrid bunny’s needs. If your hybrid bunny is trying to tell you something, it’s probably important! Do they need water? Help reaching the tap? A snuggle with their favourite person?
Now you know how to keep a hybrid bunny!
