The Bungendore Men's Shed (previously the Lake George Men's Shed) was established to provide opportunities to educate and promote men’s health and well being to men in the local community.
The men shed is a community organisation that draws strength from the support of the community. It is also in a situation where it can deliver services back to the community. All members will be asked to contribute to community activities. The men shed management will determine the nature of those activities and may include:
The provision of goods made in the men’s shed (e.g. toys) to needy people
The carrying out of minor works and repairs to property of needy people,
The participation of men in community activities and functions,
Mentoring of and skills transfer to members of the community, and
Execution of projects that raise funds for financial sustainability of the shed.
The men shed facilities can also be used in a range of activities to assist people in need in the community. This could include young people, indigenous people, and unemployed people, those with different abilities, veterans and those undergoing rehabilitation and recovery. Programs may involve various elements of mentoring, training and activities in the men shed as appropriate. The scope of those activities is dependent on building the capacity of the members to be able to undertake these activities.
